Some of the lines and their deliveries were just extraordinary. Master Roshi saying "It's so infuriating" I really, really believed that delivery. And at this point Roshi's mostly comic relief (he sort of always was, though :p) so to have such a sincere line from him was kind of out of the blue for me. And then just a little short scene of Bulma wanting to take the wheel and her saying "There, I'm calmer already" and Roshi just saying "Good, that's good." It just adds so much to both of those characters
And the whole plan taking form and then at the end I was actually really happy and the scene that in the original dub they said "Forwards to Namek!" I found really really cheesy, but now... they deserved that silly moment and I laughed with them :p Such great characters if they're portrayed the way they were meant to be portrayed
After watching the entire Saiyan arc Kai-style in English (Funimation version not Nicktoons) the characters and everything about Dragon Ball suddenly works so much better. I already liked the original dub and after that I watched quite a lot of it in Japanese and watched all of Kai in japanese, but still the first dub voices were the ones I was most comfortable with (though the japanese audio track is still awesome and I like those voices too :p) and then with a script like this and acting like this... wow. I actually felt really really sorry for Bulma and the others. I think I finally felt the way the Japanese felt when seeing this for the first time on Japanese TV
(Also I have to note that Goku's realization that he killed his adopted grandfather... wow, really really good and certainly ten times better than the first dub. He was truly sorry and he meant it and it was nice that after he'd die again he'd visit his grandpa and tell him that he was really sorry.)
