Fan Artwork of game characters

Post by DNA » Tue Sep 18, 2012 12:01 pm

I really enjoy exploring the franchise to it's fullest, so I tend to focus a lot on obscure (or not so much at these days) characters. I try to find good art of said characters and lately I've been looking more in-depth at deviantART. I found a few good ones.

First, our good friend The Devils Corpse as drawn a fair amount of artwork for game characters as part of his project. You can check his account here: http://the-devils-corpse.deviantart.com/

There you can find:
Majin Freeza, Majin Cell, Trunks Super Saiyan 2 and Cell Kuririn absorbed from the Budokai series;
Trunks, Vegeta and Gogeta Super Saiyan 3, Froze, Tsumuri, Poll and Janemba Baby from Heroes;
Time Patrol Trunks, Time Breaker Bardock, Miira and Piccolo (although he's missing his wrinkles) from Online;
Along with others like Mecha Freeza Redux, Kurilien, Ozotto and Saibaiman in various colours;
Apart from the games you can also see Onio, Honey, Z, Kuriza and Usagi Majin from the Neko Majin series, Freeza's alternate final form from Kuririn's thoughts, Gogeta's base and skinny form from conceptual sheets and many many more cool stuff.

But now I'll show case some amazing artworks in my opinion:
Majin Ozotto by ruga-rell
Majin Buu: Vegeta Absorbed by Daveyy49
"Future" Trunks Super Saiyan 3 by BoScha196
Hatchiyack transformed by Daveyy49

As an extra, whilst not from a game, it's a conceptual character:
Old Man Goku by SuperBoney

Very cool, I've always loved seeing "what-if" ideas materialized, and there we have very interesting concept arts! 8)
That makes me wonder about what new character we'll see in the 2013 movie.

Honestly, that Ozotto by ruga-rell looks absolutely amazing, I've never seen him as good. First time I really feel like watching a feature with him.

I'd just like to note that he does in fact have the wrinkles. lol They are just way to light to see without zooming in after my resizing for the sheet, but they are a lot more noticeable in the original file. :?

There are other things on the way too. I won't do normal sheets without having a new tablet, but I'm still drawing some lineworks to trace once I can actually draw with whatever pressure I choose. Here was an experiment to see if I could tolerate the bolder PTSai lines a couple months after adjusting...but no, I still can't, not without redoing every sheet again. lol

Very nice Hatchiyack. I love your sheets because it allows us to compare the characters between forms and their sizes. If only it were in metric and not that sillyness of a measuring system that I cannot understand in any possible way.

They aren't 100% accurate to the franchise though, just so you guys know that. I do make some tweaks to suit my own tastes for the project, like Hatchi here being roughly a head taller and wider than he was in the specials...er, a normal head, not his elongated thingy. lol

I may have went with metric when I started, but I wanted to be fairly accurate and use small units. Found it a bit too difficult to read the charts with anything smaller than inches though. :/

Yes, I've noticed they are tweaked. You haven't included Super Saiyan 3 GT Trunks, will he be in a future sheet?

Will you include any of the odd fusions? Gotan, Denderot, Piririn, Yamhan, Picorito? You've included that oddball Cell Kuririn absorbed, I take it it was for completness sake.
And the Elite and Berserker versions of the avatars?

And by the way, there is a figure of Saichoro standing it's on the same series as the figure of Freeza's transformation from Kuririn's nightmares.

Eventually, yes. All the Heroes avatars, all the fusions (even some that aren't official) etc.

I'm redesigning GT Trunks a bit, and also having some issues applying his coat over the base I've used for all the other forms. I definitely intended to have him out a long time ago, but things weren't working out and now the tablet issue on top of it.

Cell's Kuririn absorption is just for completeness. I'll be throwing it into my project the same way it appeared in Budokai, as a nightmare Cell has before his tournament. I figured it's just one of those fun little things to include. I have no desire to draw Saichoro standing up though. I know it's not like the rest of my sheets, but he never really gets off his ass (rather it be in the chair or on the ground), so I don't really care. lol

The Majin Ozotto looks so awesome. It looks good enough to be mistaken for official art work.
