Oh god, I'm probably misinterpreting the article, but I hope this is what I think it is.

I really hope this is the Kanzenban, but I think its just a VizBig rerelease...

It's probably just a cheap binding of three of their regular editions stuck together.

Re: Viz media Too re-release DragonBall Manga
Yeah, I was thinking Kanzenban but I didn't want to spoil it. Notice how the article says just "Dragon Ball" and not specifically "Dragon Ball Z". Perhaps they are planning on releasing the Kazenban with the correct manga title?

Re: Viz media Too re-release DragonBall Manga
Sadly, it doesn't seem to be Kanzenbans. It sounds like the three-in-one omnibuses that Viz does that aren't Viz Bigs, but are the same size as normal tankibons.

Of which the paper quality always sucks. I'll stick to the Vizbigs, which I need to get the rest of, thanks Viz. :/Fizzer wrote:Sadly, it doesn't seem to be Kanzenbans. It sounds like the three-in-one omnibuses that Viz does that aren't Viz Bigs, but are the same size as normal tankibons.

Even if they are not in the same size, quality, and/or volume numbers, it doesn't mean that the actual content won't be based on the Kanzenban.Fizzer wrote:Sadly, it doesn't seem to be Kanzenbans. James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Please Viz...just release the kanzenban's already. We don't need another pointless re-release.

Re: Viz media Too re-release DragonBall Manga
That's a point, but I doubt they'd go to the effort of releasing the Kanzenban material but then use a low quality 3-in-1 format. If it does have the Kanzenbans' altered content, all of the colours in tact, or just scraps the "Z" from the later part of the series, I'll most probably buy it.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Even if they are not in the same size, quality, and/or volume numbers, it doesn't mean that the actual content won't be based on the Kanzenban.Fizzer wrote:Sadly, it doesn't seem to be Kanzenbans. If it's just a VizBig reprint then I'm happier than if they didn't bring out anything at all, as I feel I've missed my chance with those.
Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
I'd agree if this wasn't another 3-in-1 omnibus which have all been cheap re-releases.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Even if they are not in the same size, quality, and/or volume numbers, it doesn't mean that the actual content won't be based on the Kanzenban.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!
Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
I will buy the manga eventually... But I'm more averse to double dipping on print versus DVDs. If I bought it, but then they came out with a Kanzenban edition that cut the crap, I would be thoroughly miffed.
Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
I'm hoping they will re-release the VizBigs. I only need vol. 8 to complete the collection.
Re: Viz media Too re-release DragonBall Manga
They better not cancel the Vizbigs because of this.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Of which the paper quality always sucks. Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
I've read a fair deal of the manga, but it has always been in bookstores, without actually buying it. I haven't bought it yet because I'm waiting for an uncensored release and, from what I've been able to discern of Viz's releases, there has yet to be a consistent, uncensored release.
Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, though!

Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
They do reprintings of the VizBIGs all the time without announcing it. I highly doubt they'd start announcing it now.
It's probably that omnibus thing, going by the article.
I've been buying the VizBIGs, but I'll buy an uncensored Kanzenban release, too, if Viz ever releases one.

Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
Are there any legal problems with Viz releasing an uncut version, or are they just being cautious because they're afraid of getting sued?

Re: Viz to re-release Dragon Ball manga
I'd go with the latter. They probably aren't willing to sell the uncut edition since it won't make as much money since they can't sell it to kids. They could, however, do a premium limited edition to please fans. Sell them online or with a higher maturity rating.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Are there any legal problems with Viz releasing an uncut version, or are they just being cautious because they're afraid of getting sued?
