After this and the Vortexx airings, do you think there's anything left for Kai?

Some people don't even know what's Dragon Ball Kai and they're fans of the famous Dragon Ball Z, so Kai will eventually die after the last FUNimation set in US.
Imo, it didn't live to its full potential, sadly.

A complete pack, which Madman is already providing towards AUS and NZ.
After that, it's anyone's guess.

Well, FUNimation sure is taking a long time to announce DBZ Kai Season IV.

We'll probably hear an announcement for it maybe sometime later in November for December.
They have been focusing more on other Anime recently and with the reveal of the new movie coming out along with the revelation of a Kai Buu Arc, they're probably saving any further announcements for something bigger.

This does seem to be taking a really long time. Maybe they knew about the Buu arc already and were holding back season 4 for a smoother release of Kai stuff rather than a huge gap between the last DVD set coming out and the Buu arc coming out? Or maybe they're waiting for the first few episodes of Buu so season 4 can be the same size as the others?

They can't add more episodes to Season IV, I mean, it's already at it's set to have around the same episode per season limit in this case it's 21 episodes. It's impossible to squeeze Majin Buu to a few episodes (
Ultimate Tenkaichi cutscenes don't count).
People complained about Part IV not having the complete Friеza saga but as said, it was due to the episodes per volume limit.
FUNimation might announce all at once, maybe.

What I meant was seasons 1, 2 and 3 all have 26 episodes (I think), but season 4 has less. If it has 21 currently, then adding the first 5 episodes of the Buu arc would give it the same episode count as the other seasons. Not that I actually think they're doing that, but some consistency nut might want it to have the same episode count since it isn't the last season anymore.

Excellent! I was beginning to think I'd just have to get the half sets, since Wal-mart never did a combo set for those last two sets apparently (which was what I had been buying). I wonder if FUNi asked them to stop doing that because of their own full set releases.

I wish Funimation would just admit they don't know what "season" means.

D'awww, the idea of my forum post possibly contributing to the update on the main site makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
I wouldn't say that the people at FUNimation themselves don't know what "season" means. I just think they like taking advantage of the fact that your average Wal*Mart/Best Buy/whatever shopper doesn't fully know what "season" means. I agree that it's a stupid decision (it'd be just as easy to call it a "volume" set), but with all the season sets on store shelves, maybe FUNi thinks using the term will help make consumers feel more confident about buying it.
Not a marketing major or anything, but it's an idea...
And didn't FUNi themselves make the exclusive Wal*Mart packaging? I know they were only sold at Wal*Mart, but I didn't think that meant they actually acquired the rights/resources to make their own box design and all that.

I think it's probably more complicated than it needs to be.
Nothing wrong with using the term "volume". Funimation used it for the Dragon Boxes, after all.

I really don't see the big deal with what it's called, personally. So long as the episodes are there in a proper manner, I don't really care if they called it 'Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Box With Gohan Going SS2 and Beating Cell, With Some Help Of Course, Box Set Super Deluxe!' or anything ridiculously inane. Maybe I'm just easy to please though.
And I think you might be onto something with the consumer angle, Magic. I could see them thinking that using the 'Season Set' angle again would work to increase sales. Though, with Kai being essentially just DBZ again, you would think that angle might actually hurt sales some...hmm...
As for FUNi actually making the Wal-mart only combo sets, I'm not sure who was responsible for those really. If it was FUNi themselves still, that'd still fit with my theory of them being dropped for these full sets, I bet.

Maybe it's some kind of Americanism since all series are split into various seasons and episodes.
FUNimation shouldn't really be trying to mix Japanese animation with American series' rules.

Well I'm glad FUNi finally announced season four. I was afraid there for a while it wasn't going to see the light of day.

I just got Season Four. What was the line they messed up... something about King Kai being wished back to life or something? I wanna spot check to see if it's fixed even though I'm pretty sure it won't be.
