Well, first, there's a time limit on the revival, right? Like, if they've been dead for a certain amount of time, they can't be restored, right?
Also, if they died of natural causes, you're out of luck.
I think if I went through the trouble of collecting the Dragon Balls, eff that, I'm wishing for something for myself!

Unfortunately, a certain someone that passed away has been dead for 11 years, so I would wish for immortality for my friends and family, as well as myself.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.
Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
I don't think so, they have to died within the last year and I can't think of anyone anyway.
Depending on the limits of what constitutes a single wish, I'd just write a big list of changes I'd want to make to myself (conditional immortality, perfect memory blah blah) and say "make me like this".
In fact, no, I'd feel bad for that, I'd wish for world peace or something. If it's not as simple as just "bringing about world peace", I'd ask for everyone to simultaneously realise the truth with regards to anything to do with gods, the origin and meaning of life etc, so that whatever that correct belief system may be, everyone agrees on it, and we can all finally start working together.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It wasn't due to natural causes, it was a car crash accident. The dipshit driver was drunk and driving rapidly.penguintruth wrote:Well, first, there's a time limit on the revival, right? Like, if they've been dead for a certain amount of time, they can't be restored, right?

Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
I can't think of anyone that died less than a year ago, and to unnatural causes, so in that way I'd have to say 'no' just because I wouldn't be able to. If there were no rules for it, or the rules did apply to this person, I can think of someone I'd revive, yeah.
Only with the Dragon Balls though. I'm staying ten feet away from any monkey paws...

Monkey paws?
How about, if someone close to you died now, and you knew the balls were real, would you travel the world to gather them? Let's say you have one dragon ball, and you know what it is. You'd have to measure it's electromagnetic field and create a radar to detect similar fields, or find someone to do that for you, then get to wherever the other balls are, all within a year if there's a one-year rule on resurrection.

Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
Definitely. I can think of at least one person that I would do anything and stop at absolutely nothing to bring them back. Figuring out a way to find them all though, that would pose a problem...Fizzer wrote:How about, if someone close to you died now, and you knew the balls were real, would you travel the world to gather them? Yeah, monkey paw, or rather The Monkey's Paw. It's a classic short story about the consequences of not being careful of what you wish for. Pretty sure it's in the public domain now, hence the link, but if it's not I'll have to remove it obviously.Monkey paws?

I don't think I would since things are better off dead for now.

Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
I think in the circumstance you described, then yes, I probably would. I mean, I might not revive my hypothetical 99 year old grandfather who got hit by a car, because, well...he was old anyway. I know that sounds bad, but he's lived his life.
If it were my (unfortunately) hypothetical girlfriend, then hell yeah I would, as long as there were no negative repercussions to her health and mental state.
And for immortality: It would suck.
Okay, maybe I could see tripling your lifespan would be okay-ish (assuming you didn't age normally, and just to match your lifespan - so you'd look 10 at around 30 or whatever). Even then your whole family dies, and so do all your friends - several times over might I add - before you eventually pass. But hey, maybe you can change the world with your perspective and experience.
But immortality. Living forever. For the millennia after everything and everyone on Earth is gone. Eventually witnessing the Earth die, then end in some way. The solar system being destroyed when the Sun explodes or does whatever a dead star does. Then going on to live in the vacuum of space for all eternity, even after the universe collapses in on itself into nothingness. Jesus, you'd go mad.

Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
I believe that the physical manifestation of energy can be classified as mortal. So a blade of grass, a tiger or a human are all mortal in my book.
In return, everything is immortal essentially, but when a physical state no longer exists "it" is dissipated to create new life in one form or another.
Nope, I don't think I would wish to revive someone, nor would I wish for ever lasting life. I think I would wish for something a lot less selfish, but with much more of a wide impact. I think I would wish for people to be content and greateful for what they have, and I mean truly content. If I could wish for Donald Trump to look at his house and say "Wow, this is disgunstingly ridiculous and there is absolutrely no legit benefit to living in a 14 bedroom house. I'm going to move into an appartment", then ya, I'd be happy.
Hmmm.

I'd wish to go back to a certain time, then I'd save whoever I wanted.
Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
Maybe not due to the one year things but I'd wish that I could die from old age only and nothing else. Though I'd likely still feel pain if a car hit me. And who knows? I might add in my folks and friends for the wish.

I won't mind being immortal if I was ruler of the whole Earth. At least I can run the Planet the way I want it and won't let anyone do it worst if I pass away.

Re: If Dragon Balls were real would you revive someone?
I've always wondered, if Shenlong grants somebody a wish, can somebody else reverse that wish with another?
Like, if Goku and friends wished for Garlic Junior to be mortal again, would the wish be granted?
Or, what if you wished to be the smartest person in the world, but then somebody else makes that wish the next time? If THEY become the smartest, then you are no longer the smartest, so that nulls your wish.
What if two people wish for the same thing at the same time and the wishes contradict each other (both for the same thing)? Does the paradox destroy the universe?

I wouldn't wish for immortality or to bring anyone back to life. But I'd wish for the powers of the Sayians (Gohan specifically) then I would enjoy my live while I have. Taking a page from FMA "When people are dead there dead they cant come back".

Mind you, the one year limit is for multiple revivals at once. That limitation isn't there for single-person revivals.
