Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi Opening

Post by GotenZ1 » Fri Aug 19, 2005 8:38 pm

OK, someone lock this if it's already been pointed out, but Gamespot has the opening to the game up and streaming here.

I have to say, I think it looks pretty good. I love my traditional animated openings, but this 3D one has been done rather well. ^_^ Enjoy!

Meh.. i wasn't impressed to be honest. At the start Goku looked like a warewolf the way he was posing as he looked over his shoulder at Buu. I thought the intro kinda sucked.
But, there were two parts of it i thought looked really cool. One was when Cell punched through Piccolo, but Piccolo just grinned at him as Gohan jumped up from behind him with a Kamehameha in his hands. I also liked where Kid Buu was... uh, pushed back in time...? (Or whatever happened) and killed Cell, the Mini Cells and Freezer. =P

It certainly turned out a lot better than I thought it would. The animation is done quite nicely, and watching Kid Buu nail Cell with the Genocide Attack gave me glee inside (One of my friends never used anyone but Cell in B3.. ever..). That said, I would have enjoyed it more with We Gotta Power playing in the background, but what's there, works.

I gotta say I liked it. The fights btween Goku and Kid Buu and Goku and Vegeta looked good.

They were fast-paced. They were done fast, like in DBZ, but you can actually see all the hits and stuff. I would definately watch a DBZ movie like this if it came out...but..that's another topic for another day.

Oh, and btw...I think what happened in that scene where Goku pushes Buu into Cell. Piccolo, and Gohan is that both Goku and Buu were fighting in the middle of a Shunkan-Idou, and Goku stopped Buu from continuing.

That is, undoubtedly, the single-most hardcore Dragonball Z video I have ever seen. I am utterly astounded with the quality of it, and it made me fall in love with Dragonball again. The music, the animation, the pace, the style, it all works. It reminds me of the old Digimon World openings, but done soooo much better. Wow, just wow...

Huge thanks for sharing this with us, I haven't had a nerdgasm like that in a long, long time.

Nah, I'll wait for the game to come out to see the intro. I did the same thing with B3. Even thought the intro was in the net, I waited to see it in my big TV, with Dolby Sound for the first viewing, not in a cheap mpeg downloaded format.

I must say it was worth the wait.

Best part is...play the TV size version of "We Gotta Power," and it seems to sync just fine.

I was kind of iffy on how it was syncing at the beginning, but the end parts definitely match up.

I'd rather have a TOEI opening, but this looks nice too, sans the music of course.

Mugenmidget is right: it syncs up perfectly.

I do agree with others though, when they say that they would rather have an animated opening done by Toei, and a new song like DBZ 2-3. This is nice, though, especially with "We Gotta Power" playing in the backround.

I prefer the CGI. Far more impressive, far smoother, more crisp and metallic, and of course, filled with perfect, flawless animation.

Anime drawn-like intros are nice of course, and are closer to the anime, but the CGI were a nice change of pace in my opinion. And the best part is, that like in the B2-3 intros, the material is completely original.

I opening left me feeling rather underwhelmed. I didn't really like the CG all that much - I'd rather just have another awesome Toei opening, with a new song. Even though 'We Gotta Power' was playing, without the actual singing, it just doesn't sound as appealing as Budokai 2 and 3's songs did.

Despite some nice, fluid animation, that was a relatively awful intro with Goku's limbs seemingly re-shaping. This would have worked if it was a trailer for Taiketsu, displaying absolutely NO in-game footage.

I'm iffy really. The CGI was a nice touch and certainly different but I would have prefered an anime intro. I liked the ideas of the fights (especally Gohan and Piccolo vs Cell and Cell Jrs) but I was dissapointed that it mainly focused on Goku vs Kid Buu. While Goku may be the hero, there are fans out there who prefer other characters (Gohan and Piccolo myself) and from that point of view the fights in the intro were dissapointing. I can't say I really heard the music and after the excellent songs in DBZB2 and 3 I am once again dissapointed to see there won't be one for Sparking/BT (least at this moment in time).

I think on paper it's a nice intro but the finished version is iffy. A shame.

The new CG opening looks pretty awesome, though there were bad flaws in it. Goku looked basicly terrible and his SSJ2 hair was very exagerated, as were his facial features. Piccolo being impaled would of been awesome, if they animated Cell's fist instead of Piccolo's cloths being strethed on the other end. Buu doing the Genocide was pure genius, I just hope it's an actual attack in the game. Over-all, the lack of "We Gotta Power" was a bad move on Atari's part, and the way the CG is animated seems slightly rushed, I do wish they could of just used a Toei animated opening and new music.

I got one question: Will "We Gotta Power" be in the European opening?

I doubt it, unfortunately, and I actually want the Japanese voices back.

Some of us French fans have been in contact with people from Atari France and they've told us that we'll be getting the Japanese voices in the European release of Sparking!

I was under the impression that ALL versions got the option for Japanese voices because of the Game Informer article posted in another topic that stated so.

While this may not hold to be true for the final release, if such a feature exists, wouldn't that also open up the possibility for "We Gotta Power" replacing the generic music in the intro when the game is set on the Japanese option?

Why We Gotta Power? How od know it's not gonna be something new? Is We Gotta Power really it's correct title? I'm sure he says "We've got power" instead.

Here somebody added "We gotta power" to it(I heard something about it getting the 2005 version of it, what's the difference?). I was hoping they'd use more original animation, but that was still cool(especially the part with Goku and Vegeta where it slowed down, it almost looked like they were dancing :P ).
