How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending...
... to fit Toriyama's new ending in the manga when they finish up the Buu saga in Kai? I think I'd actually be down with that. I very much prefer the new one.

That'd be awesome

I really hope they do, the original ending wasn't really a suitable or satisfying end to the series, the new one is much better. Does the kanzenban ending contradict GT at all?

I'd love it if they did that, even if it was as a silent, no dialogue final episode ending, or something. I'd love to have an anime shot of Uub on the kinto'un.

No. That final line by Vegeta is complete bullshit.

Inconsistency of AN/PQ? That never happened before, so please, do it, TA.

Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
I thought about that. But after awhile I came to the conclusion that although Vegeta does accept Goku as "No. 1" at the end of Buu... it doesn't mean he isn't going to try to surpass him and defeat him in battle. You can admit someone is better than you and still want to defeat them.penguintruth wrote:No. That final line by Vegeta is complete bullshit.
Also, a lot of time passed between buu's defeat and then.
Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
I actually like it and find it makes sense.penguintruth wrote:No. That final line by Vegeta is complete bullshit.
Goku and Vegeta won't ever stop wanting to surpass whoever is better than them. So Vegeta admitting Goku is N°1 can only make him more eager to beat him, and it's really a nice line to finish the story, hinting at everlasting trainings and rivaly between them in the future.
I also think it's another way to say "just because you won't see the rest of the story, doesn't mean nothing is going to happen in the future, there will still be more rivalry, more battles, more enemies, more adventures". It's the sense that the story of the characters' life is not even close to an end, it's just that from this point in the story, we won't be seeing it.
It's not the end of the story, just the end of us being witness to it. A clear opposition to some "and they stopped wanting to fight each other and lived a family life of complete peace and serenity everafter."
Well, that's how I take it anyway, and why I like very much the new Kanzenban ending: building new destinies (Pan and Oob), but showing that pre-existing destinies are still on-going.
If that makes any sense to you guys...

AN - Animation
PQ - Picture Quality
TA - Toei Animation
OP @ Don't count on it, TA's probably going to put little effort yet they're going to give the foreign public the Buu arc of Kai.
Anyway, I'll be watching it for Masako's performance, as it's probably one of her last Dragon Ball works.
Couldn't care less for the futuristic FUNimation Kai dub of this.

Wow, cry more about it, dude. I absolutely love the new ending, so your words are kinda insulting. Vegeta had admitted that Goku had been #1 until that point in time, it has nothing to do with Vegeta giving up hopes of surpassing him in the future.penguintruth wrote:No. That final line by Vegeta is complete bullshit.

Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
Vegeta wasn't just admitting that Goku was number one at that one moment. That was clear. He was admitting that Goku is, overall, number one. That Goku is the superior warrior. It's ingrained in him somehow. It's who he is. Vegeta might want to sharpen his skills to challenge Goku, but to think he has a chance of beating him suddenly is a slap to the face to that character development, that realization of Goku's superiority, the swallowing of his pride (in relation to Goku, at least).
Also, I don't like the idea of Vegeta getting the last word.

Yes, Vegeta was admitting that Goku was number one up until that point in time. Has nothing to do with the future. You can have whatever opinion you like, but the fact stands that nothing whatsoever in Vegeta's words indicates that he was going to stop trying to rival Goku.penguintruth wrote:Vegeta wasn't just admitting that Goku was number one at that one moment. Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
I agree that it would be cool, but also that it is unlikely to happen.
Toei is pretty reluctant to make new animation for Kai, we had only two completely different endings and only one opening which - at most - changed its second half when it was not just a few shots.
So thinking about new animations for like 3 minutes at the end, it seems unlikely.
But who knows? Even though the chances of that happening seem small to me, there's still a little possibility that they'll think "since this is the very last thing we do on the show, we might put extra efforts into it for the very last scene. We animated 90 minutes of movie lately, we can animate 2 more minutes before taking a break from the show."
That's considering they even have the idea of using the Kanzenban ending.
For all we know, they might only use the original Dragon Ball Z as a reference and have forgotten - or be unaware - that the manga has a new ending.

Kai had like 4 different openings;
1. Saiyans
2. Friеza
3. Androids
4. Cell
But all around it was basically the same.

Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
I dunno, I kind of feel the same way as others do. I think that Vegeta has accepted that Goku is better than him, yes, but that he'd still love to surpass him - if he can. To me, that character development wasn't him completely giving up his hopes, but rather, him admitting to himself that chances are, it's never gonna happen. I think he'd still train to become as strong as he can, and if that eventually leads to him surpassing Goku? Awesome. If it doesn't? Well, he'll just have to accept that. 'Goku and Friends Return' added to my thoughts on this, with how playful their rivalry seemed now instead of antagonistic.penguintruth wrote:Vegeta wasn't just admitting that Goku was number one at that one moment. I do agree that it's off to have Vegeta getting the last word though. If they do animate this new ending, I'd hope for them to move that line to before something else. Or hell, remove it entirely - the main thing I really would love to see is Goku passing on kinto'un to Uub.

Re: How would you feel if they re-animated the series ending
If he was just saying, "Right now you're the best." it would be a completely meaningless gesture. Clearly he already knew Goku was superior in power ever since he complained that Goku was holding back on him in their earlier fight when he came back to help with Buu. The scene on the Kaioshin planet marks Vegeta's admission of Goku's superiority as a warrior, overall.hleV wrote:Yes, Vegeta was admitting that Goku was number one up until that point in time. Otherwise the scene is utterly meaningless.
"Kakarot... you're temporarily the strongest of the two of us, but I'll totally still beat you!" doesn't mean a damn thing.

Just because somebody's the best doesn't mean you can't one day beat him - he's not invincible.
It's one thing to no longer be obsessed with surpassing the guy, it's another thing to not even try any more. Doubt Vegeta would ever fall into the latter category.
