How often do you watch the series?

Post by samuraix123 » Sat Feb 02, 2013 4:58 am

Hello Everyone!
How often do you watch the series? or the specials or movies?
I usually try to squeeze the entire series in my life at-least once a year. the movies and stuff are just random :P now I'm going to be honest here, I haven't watched GT in about 2 or 3 years :P but I'm curious how often my fellow Dragonball fans watch the series.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

About a few random episodes a week, at least that used to be my normal schedule. Ever since I collected the manga I haven't watched an episode in a month or so.

I'm reading the comic. I seem to go into reading sprees every couple months. It's very varying; Sometimes I'll read a bunch, sometimes only one story arc. And then sometimes the gap is only a few weeks. So far I've gotten to the Saiyan arc with the fight against Vegeta and Nappa.

When the Dragon Box Z sets were first coming out in the US, I was watching them as I bought them. I got up to the Androids arc with the fight against Android No. 19 and Android No. 20.

Hmm... Not sure why I stopped. I think I kinda felt like I wanted to go back and watch DB first. I've seen it through twice, and it's only DBZ I haven't gotten through in a straight shot, but that was SO long ago. That's probably when I started getting the comics. Till Funimation releases the DB Dragon Box sets, I can't watch the animated version (the Japanese audio kills me). And so I found a pretty good alternative. It's better to read it first anyways, I think. I'll probably give the animated version a go again once I finish the comic. However, hopefully by then FUNi will have at least started their release of the DB Dragon Boxes. Oh, bookshelf... You're going to be so beautiful one day. XD

Where I live Dragonball/Z are Re-aired and they show every sunday 2 episodes of Dragonball , and 2 episodes of Z.
Although I can't watch Dragonball, because it's too early for me, I always watch the Z episodes.

Haven't really watched in quite some time (a year, I think), but during the time the Dragon Boxes were coming out, I watched the show almost everyday, like 7 episodes (1 disc) each day.

EDIT: Would you believe in all the time I've had Dragon Box vol. 7, I have not watched it even once? Heck, I never even got around watching the last disc of vol. 6. :P

Hard to say really...I don't even really want to go as far as to say once a year or anything, because I probably don't, but...maybe once every year and a half to two years? I dunno. I'm considering re-watching it again soon-ish though, kinda. It's somewhat on my watching plans.

I do watch Kai on TV every so often when nothing else I want to see is on though, same with GT.

I have been watching Kai on my laptop with the Yamamoto score since I won't ever get it all legit on DVD/Blu-ray. but I still throw kai on for background noise when it comes on Nicktoons :D

Once every few years. I'll watch around 10 episodes a day until I finish the series.

Once a couple of years or so. My boyfriend and I started watching Dragon Ball together last year but we sort of stopped due to our busy schedules. There just wasn't enough time to marathon through the series liked we planned. We're hoping to start watching it again pretty soon, I really loved the RR army saga and I just know he'll like it too.

No offense, but I feel that that's how you run your fandom into the ground until you lose interest in the franchise. Don't you get sick of seeing the same 444 episodes every year?

As for me, I know this is a vague answer, but whenever I feel like it. :P A lot of the time it's after listening to the podcast and they talk about a section of the series that I really like, that or maybe some days I just feel really "Bardock" or "Coola". I've also been reading what little of the Manga I own lately as well. The very first volume is what I read yesterday since I'd finally decided to start catching up on MistareFusion's Dragon Ball review series-thing.

It's usually been whenever a new release came out. The last time I watched a batch of episodes was when I bought Dragon Box 7 which was back in November 2011. Maybe I'll restart someday.

Usually once every couple of weeks I might watch some random episodes.

Sometimes I'll even watch them on different releases as well.

VHS (Currently from Ginyu Assault to Cell vs Goku fight. Also own Arrival and Volume 3 of Ocean Dub)
Ultimate Uncut (Vegeta Saga Part 1)
Season Set (Currently Seasons 1 - 8 )
Dragon Box (Volume 5 and 7)
Blu-Ray (Level 1.1 and 1.2)

I don't really get burned out on it :P I've been doing it since the series ran on Toonami a-long time ago. :) It's not like I have a marathon until it ends. it's just kinda spread out over the year :P I haven't seen all the original Dragonball yet. but I'm hoping Funimation will release the Dragon-boxes to fix that.

Unless each new episode of TFS counts...I probably haven't watched since Kai was airing in Japan. >_>
I've seen EoB, and I may have caught some clips of Kai's dub on NickToons, but no entire episodes.
Yeah, it's been a while. '_';;

This isn't just a DB thing with me though, it's difficult for me to schedule up time to watch TV in general.

I am tempted to re-read some of the manga in the lead-up to BOG though.
On hiatus.

I've been in the process of watching DBZ for the last several months as I acquire the Dragon Boxes. I've just finished the Anoyoichi Budokai arc and am on a bit of a break as my vol.6 comes in (and to account for the in-universe 7 year break before episode 200). This is actually my first consistent viewing of the series in lieu of all of the different "seasons" and dubs/re-dubs and what not.

Generally, anytime I watch the series I usually take pretty long (almost year length) breaks as watching it can be a labourious task due to the sheer number of episodes as well as the lengths of arcs and so I don't get too burnt out on it either. Otherwise I just resort to Youtube clips if I'm in the mood for a particular fight or will just pop in a random movie/special for the hell of it.

I don't.
Sad to say the last time I watched the series was over a decade ago, I never watched Dragon Ball, I watched DBZ up until the Cell Games, the only series I saw all the way through was DBGT. I don't have any DVD's or anything of the series to watch either so aside from viewing the odd clip on youtube I never watch it. I'd love for that to change though, I decided that this year I'm going to pick up at least one of the series'. I might even pick up Kai for something new if that counts.

I haven't been watching much, but I really, badly need to go back watching it and finish the original DB anime. And ''finishing'' here means more precisely ''watching the rest of the 130 or so episodes''. (I have never seen the original series in its entirety, and surprisingly have been quite able to avoid much spoilers, even as I have been lurking on this forum for a while. Thanks a lot, Kanzenshuu community  )

I watch it sporadically. I don't necessarily re-watch the whole series at once, i've only done that a few times. I generally pick an arc/saga and watch that and it's generally once a year (or every few years, depends). It's been a long time but recently I just started re-watching from the Other World-Tournament and I'm going to re-watch til the end of Buu. The last time before that I watched all of saiyan-frieza. I also switch back and forth between either watching it all in English or Japanese. When something new comes out, like Son Goku & His Friends Return or Episode of Bardock I try to watch it asap! The main reason I watch sporadically and not that often is because, well, it's a really long friggin series and it takes quite a time commitment to watch it all! And I don't want to burn out on anything.

It's been the longest since I've seen the end of Dragon Ball, so I really want to watch that again. I dare say it's been nearly a decade at this point... I've only watched through the end of DB once (Tien-Piccolo Jr.)... I've seen the beginning quite a number of times. And as for GT. Well, I know I've watched it more than once through but it's been quite some time on that too.

The movies, I recently re-watched all of them in anticipation for the new movie coming out. Still love movies 6, 8, 12 and 13 the best. I'm sort of rambling now so I'll stop haha. Basically you can just say I watch it when the mood strikes me and it's usually whatever part of the series I haven't seen in a long time (which is why I want to watch it again).

........ I haven't actually watched Kai. I only watched a few episodes, but I didn't see the whole thing.
