Legality of Chozenshu Translation

Post by DBZfan29 » Wed Feb 20, 2013 10:52 pm

I just purchased STORY & WORLD GUIDE and was wondering if we'd see something like the translation of Daizenshuu 7 (posted on the original Kanzentai site) for this book.
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

You mean, like, perhaps, the stuff we put up the day it came out...? :)

As for "legality" of it... it's tough. We specifically and consciously do NOT put up scans of the pages, or much (if any at all) of the actual, original Japanese text. Our translation work could possibly fall under the categorization of derivative work, but we would still have some sort of strange rights to the actual translation work and phrasing of the words in English, themselves.

It's a fine line, so we tread slowly and carefully.
