Did Gokuu reach SSJ because his tail was removed?
I remember hearing an explanation someone provided on here about Saiya-Jins, or at least Gohan, possibly re-growing their tail out of instinct when they're in danger such as when the latter re-grew his when Bejiita was beating him down after being injured; the same thing seemed to happen with chibi Gokuu in the 21st World Tournament against Giran.
I think it's interesting to consider perhaps the same/ similar thing happened with Gokuu during the Freeza arc after Kuririn was murdered, except his tail was removed for good so it triggered Super Saiya-Jin instead. It seems possibly suggested that the same may have happened with Goten and Trunks because they were born without tails.

Good theory. Never thought of it that way. I'd agree with it.

It's impossible because Goku is an adult .Legendary Saiya-Jin wrote:I remember hearing an explanation someone provided on here about Saiya-Jins, or at least Gohan, possibly re-growing their tail out of instinct when they're in danger such as when the latter re-grew his when Bejiita was beating him down after being injured; the same thing seemed to happen with chibi Gokuu in the 21st World Tournament against Giran.

Super Saiyan and Oozaru must be different from each other, if I wanna believe the tails prevent Super Saiyan transformations, exception of Dragon Ball GT where Goku goes Super saiyan 3 with a tail attached.

I doubt these excuses would count as canon or not but, in the Bio Broli movie, we see Broli go Super Saiyan while having a tail. Also, there's the Episode of Bardock.

Nope, it's the opposite. His tail never grew back because he reached Super Saiyan (well, not for Goku, since his tail was permanently removed by Kami, but for Vegeta & Gohan at least). The tail is said to grow back during a dangerous situation, and Toriyama said that the tail stopped growing back because Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan had become so strong that they didn't need the tail. The tail's use was to transform into an Oozaru, and since Super Saiyan is 5 times stronger than Oozaru, Oozaru wasn't needed anymore, and so was the tail.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

When Vegeta was bringing up the legend of the Super Saiyan in the Namek saga, there was an image of a golden ape in the background as hes explaining it. Its possible that previous super saiyans were apes because they had tails. I don't remember this exact moment in the Manga, but definitely this was briefly shown in the Anime.

That's an anime only thing where the "original SSJ" appears as a golden tinged ape. It was never shown in the manga.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:When Vegeta was bringing up the legend of the Super Saiyan in the Namek saga, there was an image of a golden ape in the background as hes explaining it.
