Recap music
In Dragon Ball, the recap music often changed depending on the mood they were trying to convey. Sometimes it was more whimsical, other times it was more earnest. In contrast, DBZ was the same track. The only time it changed was after Kikuchi changed it up for the Buu arc. Which approach do you prefer? I prefer to change it up.

Re: Recap music
I look at it this way. It gets kind of boring hearing the recap for all of DBZ and DBGT, even though the music recap is epic. BUT! To me it's boring when you try to watch a lof of episodes in a day and as a person that has to watch everything in the whole episode, it can be boring to have to watch and hear the recap music of the previous episode. On the other hand, if you watch DBZ on TV. An episode a day, it's not bad.

Re: Recap music
I used to watch a marathon of Dragon Box Z episodes a day when possible I don't any more, and the recap music was always consistent and fitting, so I'm glad they stuck to one between the two parts where they changed the BGM tracks (001 / 200).
Always changing around BGM tracks isn't quite a good idea, take Replacement Kai for example.

Re: Recap music
I know it's consistent and fitting but having the same music doesn't always convey the proper mood. I don't have much of a problem with the replacement Kai music, but the approach in Dragon Ball was more what I was talking about. You say changing the recap music isn't a good idea but didn't explain why.dbboxkaifan wrote:I used to watch a marathon of Dragon Box Z episodes a day when possible I don't any more, and the recap music was always consistent and fitting, so I'm glad they stuck to one between the two parts where they changed the BGM tracks (001 / 200).

Re: Recap music
I say have a standard recap theme that's used most of the time, but when there's an extra-special situation that calls for something different, change it. It makes the episode stand out more, like in episode 119 when they used "Slugg's Plan" from Movie 4, in place of the usual M710. That always left an impression on me.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Skip to 4:00 and listen to that replacement music used throughout the recap episode (which is retelling Dragon Ball in a short amount of time). It should come by nature to notice that they've done a bad job choosing BGMs for the episodes itself.
People shouldn't be blaming Kenji Yamamoto or Shunsuke Kikuchi for the unsuitable music placements because the sound director behind it was Nagasaki. Toei Animation probably couldn't afford a decent sound director to do the job, or they're just too cheap and rush-y.

Re: Recap music
They did that in Yu Yu Hakusho, but it was the Next Episode Preview, and I found that really effective. I like that idea.kenisu3000 wrote:I say have a standard recap theme that's used most of the time, but when there's an extra-special situation that calls for something different, change it. Re: Recap music
The recap music was my most favorite piece of music, when I was watching the show on TV. It was iconic the same to me as the opening theme was, as I was hearing this melody each time after the opening. I can't imagine the series without it. It's one of the reasons that I didn't bought the Season sets (+ the picture and cropping).

Yeah, but even the Z season sets had the recaps though.MCDaveG wrote:It's one of the reasons that I didn't bought the Season sets (+ the picture and cropping).
