If FUNimation ever dubbed Cha-La Head Cha La?

Post by El Diabeetus » Wed Mar 20, 2013 4:55 am

After hearing FLOW's 'English Version', it got me thinking about a proper English Version from FUNimation. What route do you think they'd take with the lyrics, something like the GT sets where it's just a re-worded translation or something more like Dragon Soul and Mystical Adventure? Where they keep the general spirit of the song; but, re-write it for the most part and who do you think would do the song/who would you choose for it?

I looked on search, and haven't seen a topic exactly like this. But, sorta similar like 'Acceptable Cha-La' and 'English Versions of Cha-La' but not anything address what FUNimation could and would do with it if they ever do.

I hope they dub it one day. I understand even to this day DBZ is their black-sheep show, but having every other DB series with proper theme dubs at this point... I think they should finally give Z the same treatment. I love the Japanese version of it, but it would be nice to see FUNimation correct this since they did it with GT and did it correctly with Dragon Ball from the beginning.

As for the route I think they'd take, it'd be more like Dragon Ball than GT. I can't see them keeping the lines about 'Finding a dinosaur in a glacier and training it to ride a ball'. As far as who'd sing it, I'd like to see Jimi Tunnel (the English Mystical Adventure singer, even though he doesn't do any music for FUNimation anymore) or Chris Ayres. Hearing his cover of War Pigs a while back, I think he could handle the Kageyama powerful/putting his all into it-style vocals pretty well.

It's only a snippet as of now, but on the Flow Battle of Gods Album they have an 'English' version, even though you can't understand much most of it.

They had plenty of opportunities to dub CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA but they never did. I wouldn't expect them to do it now anyway.

Dragon Ball Z - Singles
Dragon Ball Z - Orange Bricks
Dragon Ball Z - Dragon Box Z
Dragon Ball Z - Level Sets
Dragon Ball Z - Ultimate Tenkaichi
Dragon Ball Z - Battle of the Gods

Well, if CLHCL is the opening of DBZ Battle of the Gods, maybe they will this time.

I'd like to hear Vic Mignogna singing CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA.

Btw, there's a fandub version by MidiGuyDP which is my favourite English CLHCL to date.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Yeah, I like his fandub! Great voice, although I'm not the biggest fan of the Phillpene's English Dub lyrics being used. I wouldn't mind seeing Vic Mignogna cover it. But, he's FUNimation's go-to male singer, it'd be nice to see someone else do it. But, that's my opinion at least.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People
