What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
For me It's when Goku defeated Piccolo Daimaoh. it was the most epic moment of my childhood, then it was to see goku all grown up. I love dbz it's the first db anime I watched, but Db has a soft spot in my heart because of the awesome Martial Arts! even yamcha wasn't a total loser.
The other was when Gohan defeated Cell. it was glorious for me also! :3

Re: What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
Probably when Goku defeated Freeza or when Vegeta sacrificed himself. I felt really sad when Vegeta gave his life
that moment and when Trunks found Gohan dead laying in a puddle of water and it caused him to unlock super saiyan.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

This. Also Goku's transformation into Golden Oozaru and the universal Genki Dama in GT (thanks to that awesome rendition of Dan Dan that plays during both scenes).dbboxkaifan wrote:Gohan SSJ2 Transformation

Gohan going SS2, though I like mostly everything in the Android/Cell saga over everything else, but that shit was epic.

Gohan's final struggle with Cell. Specifically the anime version, where it went to each character while blasting Cell in the back. I liked that each character got to say a little something while trying their best to help out, even if it wasn't much. Then of course the aftermath, BOOM, bye Cell.

I always enjoyed when Goku arrived to fight the bad guys just in time, saving his comrades. Like when he arrived to fight Piccolo Daimao saving Tenshinhan, or to fight Nappa, or when he got to Namek. I loved those moments.
But the one moment I consider the most epic is Goku's Super Saiyajin 3 transformation. I like how he gives a "class on Super Saiyajin transformations" before starting to go beyond SSj2. Everybody on Earth is watching, then everything starts to tremble, even Gohan feels his ki. I remember how excited I was as a kid while watching this unfold

Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Tenshinhan winning the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai is worthy of applause. It's a great, sobering moment for Ten, as the guy who was obsessed with his rotten image wins by a technicality. It's an incredibly strong and resonant character moment; who hasn't gotten something they didn't think they deserved and felt terrible about it? Or to put it another way, realizing that thing that you wanted isn't as rewarding within reach as it looked when it was far away? Stuff like that is rare to see in DB, which can often be clever in a humorous way, but when it accentuates the characters it's very fun.
Ten in general is easily my favorite "rival" Goku's ever had. Piccolo and Vegeta spent a little too much time obsessing over Goku.

Re: What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
When Freeza powers up for the first time to fight Vegeta & Crew (in his 1st form.) In the Original version, there's this cool sounding filter they put over his voice, making him sound.. I don't know, like demonic? It sounds cool though, and there's just this overwhelming feeling for a Freeza fanboy such as myself, who waited months to see this moment only to get dissapointed by returing to Raditz again after Recoome was defeated.. had to go and download it on an FTP and choose to skip up until the fight started.. after having only read about that scene in geocites spoilers and read the crappily scanned manga at PlanetNamek.com came the moment of SEEING my dark master Freeza finally begin his power up. I'll never forget that moment, probably the most riled up and excited I've ever gotten or ever will get over a cartoon.
In my mind.. I became Freeza for weeks after that.. always doing his "hm hm hm" laugh and talking to myself in giberish fake Japanese in His voice. Truly amazing moment.

Yeah thats the one.
Especially since the whole world is watching.

Watching all the good guys die was the most upsetting Dragon Ball moment eversamuraix123 wrote:Probably when Goku defeated Freeza or when Vegeta sacrificed himself. Then seeing Trunks finally getting his revenge was on of the greatest moments

One of my favorites is the encounter with Raditz, This saiyan was one of the hardest matches goku had to face. Also, the arrival of Raditz revealed a lot about goku and his heritage, and in many respects an opening to a new epoch in the dragon ball universe. I also love the memorable fight with Goku vs. Vegeta, were a glance at a new main character takes place. Also, the fight with Goku and Frieza is worth putting in my favoritelist, were the end to a tyrrany responsible for the destruction of many planets - including planet vegeta - takes place.

Re: What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
Goku defeating King Piccolo. The world has been conquered, the dragon balls are gone, Goku's best friend and father figure are dead, and Goku himself is crippled and lying in a pool of his own blood. Looks like the demon king really did triumph... but then, with nothing left to lose, and with the last bit of energy he can use, Goku launches himself up with a Kamehameha and delivers the most epic punch in history, slamming through the demon king like a speeding bullet. And then he explodes. To me, nothing can really top Goku defeating the worst menace the world had ever known and the strongest opponent he had yet faced in such an epic way.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
Re: What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
The climax of the Saiyan arc is number 1 for me. The battle with Vegeta is an amazing one.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: What's the most glorious moment in the series for you?
Goku and Freeza's fight to the death on Namek as the planet begins to blow up all around them.
Goku vs. Piccolo Daimao- Goku beating him with just one arm/punch
Goku vs Piccolo- Similar reasons
Goku vs. Vegeta
Goku's Genki Dama with the score in GT.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
