FUNimation edition question :)

Post by Tzi » Tue Feb 24, 2004 10:46 am

I there, just discovering this forum.

In fact i'm just started to look at the FUNanimation DB edition, and i have a few questions about it.

I see that the first 13 episodes will be released when FUNanimation get the license for it. Do we have some estimation in years, mounth ? :)

Same i see that the tien shinhan (84 - 101) is not released yet. Same license problem that for the 13 first episodes, or just not released yet ?

ty for all :)

It's just not released yet, as far as Tenshinhan goes.

It'll probably come out in June if I had to just guess.

As far as the release for episodes 1-13, it'll probably be sometime shortly after the release of the Tenshinhan arc, I doubt Funi would let a sub-user of their dub like Madman get out to market too far ahead of them, to discourage importing.

Why is Funimation so lax on releasing some episodes of the series, like they did with Cell Games in its entirety, and Tien Shinhan Saga? It took them quite a long time to release Cell Games, and by that time, people are just like, so what?

Also, don't you think it would have been smarter of them to label the "Tien Shinhan Saga" the "Crane School Saga" or something?
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

4th paragraph under "The Original DragonBall Revisited?!"

Hope that helps. :)

Because they've been busy. In 2002, they averaged about three DBZ DVDs per month, but then come 2003, they decided to start putting out DB and DBGT. There had been no DB, aside from Movie 3, and DBGT was the cool new thing after the end of DBZ. Combined with all of FUNi's other series, as well as the 4Kids shows they put out, Cell Games just kind of ended up getting backlogged. But now they're going back to it, so, yay!

As for Tien Shinhan, I don't think that's really delayed, overall. They've just slowed down the pace of putting out the DB DVDs.

Considering how long it's taken for DBZ to be put out, the DB volumes are coming out at hyper speed in comparison! I'm quite pleased. Wow, that's rare for me with Funimation.

FUNI are releasing 4kids shows on DVD? So they are an official, er, publisher?

That's quite impressive when you look at that first Ginyu DVD, released less than 4 years ago...

Are the DVDs any good? Compared to, say, the Pokemon DVDs, the DBZ DVDs, and stuff like that?

I actually don't know, I haven't seen them since although I'm a fan of Yugi-Oh!, I don't watch dubbed anime and I know that there is only the English-only edited version on the DVDs. And if you know unedited Yugi-Oh!, the edited version kinda takes the fun out of it. I miss "psycho Yugi"! But I suspect the quality's probably pretty good since Funimation did all their trial and error learning on DBZ. They've been getting better lately, especially with their release of Fruits Basket.
