South Kaioshin or Dai-Kaioshin
which is stronger? I know Kibitoshin states that there were 5 Kaioshin and that South Kaioshin was the burliest and strongest but wouldn't Dai-Kaioshin be in his own league being a Grand Kaioshin and all? It just seems strange that a Dai-Kaioshin would be weaker than a lesser a Kaioshin.

Aren't the Kaioshins chosen by lottery? Maybe the Dai Kaioshin just got lucky.

I don't believe so. It is never explicitly stated that within the hierarchy a higher god can't be weaker than a lower god. Of course it is inferred that the Kaioshin's are in a league of their own but they come from a purer fruit than the Kai's that doesn't mean however the Dai Kaioshin has to be more powerful than the Kaioshin's. Maybe they chose who the Dai Kaioshin would be among them and chose this fat one because he has the purest heart and he is probably very wise. The ordering of the levels in the ranks of the Kaioshin and the Kaios is never ascertained. We just know whether a shin-jin falls into one category or another depending on how they are born. What happens within that category is probably determined by them so they assign each other roles.TheMightyOzaru wrote:which is stronger? Re: South Kaioshin or Dai-Kaioshin
There's really no way around this. Kaioshin stated Southie to be the strongest of the five, therefore he is the strongest of the five. In fact, in Dragon Ball, it's very rare for the leader to be the strongest of the faction. Dai Kaioshin, Guru, Furry, Red, Black, Crane Hermit/Shen, King Vegeta, Nappa, King Cold, Babidi, et cetera.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
