Why do you think Gokuu immediately went Golden Oozaru but Vegeta didn't against Shenlong?

Because uncontrolled Ōzaru are beasts of rage, and the Super Saiyan transformation can be unintentionally activated against the user's will if they are angry enough; see Gohan trying to restrain himself at Spopovich's beating of Videl in the Buu Arc. Goku transformed into an Ōzaru and the ape's rage forced the transformation, but Vegeta was in control the whole time and was just screwing with everyone, so he had to activate it on his own.

From what I recall, he was just fucking around. If he wasn't, that'd be one more thing to chalk up to Toei's plotholes.

I don't get how he could crush SSJ4 Goku though lol. At only 10x base, compared to (probably) at least 500x base.

50x weaker? I don't think so . There was no visible powering down from Vegeta when they fused. Just that Goku at FPSSJ4 would be stronger than Vegeta.

Well, does powering down usually have any visual cues? Aside from dropping the form entirely, I mean?
And Super Saiyan 4 doesn't seem to put much, if any strain on the Saiyan's body. I can see Goku's power dropping drastically due to everything he'd been through in the last couple of hours and him still remain in the form.

Well if Goku had really gotten 5000% weaker, I don't think SSJ4 Gogeta would have been quite so strong, seeing as how this is Metamor and not Potara, so Vegeta would have had to drastically lower his power.

I guess that's possible. I've always just put it down to GT being GT

Well it was regular Oozaru at first, we all know Vegeta can control his Oozaru form. Then he immediately went Golden Oozaru, then SSJ4.
