Piccolo doesn't look right on the Orange Bricks "Season 7"

This is Piccolo doing the Mankankosappo attack from the Saiyan arc, which reminds me exactly of it and it just feels like all along it's been falsely advertised with the wrong picture.

Instead of Piccolo's Mankankosappo pose they could've had the Great Saiyaman or even Mr. Satan for the front cover, as it's the early stage of the Majin Buu arc.

To be honest the box art was pretty disappointing all the way through the orange bricks. If I was choosing the box art for these, I would go:

Season 1: Piccolo
Season 2: Vegeta
Season 3: Freeza
Season 4: Trunks
Season 5: Cell (probably imperfect Cell, either would work)
Season 6: SSJ2 Gohan
Season 7: Trunks and Goten
Season 8: Boo
Season 9: SSJ Goku

Yeah this list is pretty much how I'd have it, might swap SSJ Goku for just regular Goku or Goku in his epilogue gi.

To be honest, the cover art characters were the one thing I actually liked about the orange bricks, except that I was extremely annoyed that Vegeta was on box one and Goku on box two. Definitely would have switched that.

Hey! Kinda like the Dragon Boxes! They bested you again, orange bricks!

Yeah I was debating which to go with, but I just thought SSJ is kind of the main theme of the Z part of the series. Either would work. :)

Personally, I always found the booklets they included with the Orange Bricks to be quite nice. I mean, yeah, they used dub terms/names, but they served as a good synopsis of events and characters for the newcomer. The art used was also good. Hell, they even credited the original Japanese cast, something they never really did prior to that release and Kai.

And of course, the nice booklets continued on into the DB/GT Season Sets, if you were lucky enough to get an early printing.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I agree, it was a bonus for the set, but they even ruined them for many people by stopping the printing of them!

I was lucky enough to snag most of the bricks with booklets, however I am missing the booklets for Dragon Ball Volumes 1, 4 and 5 :(

I've never liked the packaging of those things in general never mind the characters. The bright orange always seemed tacky to me and I remember thinking they were bootlegs the first time I saw one online years ago. They had it right with the "ultimate uncut special edition" covers. Why they downgraded to plain orange with random character art? I'll never know.

I probably would have went with this route:

Season 1: Goku

Begin with the main character

Season 2: Vegeta

Seeing as a lot of this season is dedicated to Vegeta's DB hunt;

Season 3: Freeza

Because of that LONG battle.

Season 4: Trunks

basically he introduces us to the Androids

Season 5: Piccolo

During the earlier parts of the Cell arc Piccolo is generally the lead.

Season 6: Perfect Cell

The Cell Games!

Season 7: Great Saiyaman

As Gohan is the lead hee.

Season 8: Majin Buu

Seeing as its all about Buu hee.

Season 9: Vegetto

Gotta end with the best character. 8)

At least you can download them from here:

Maybe you could take them to a print shop and print your own in nice quality?

Thankfully I got all of my Season Sets as they actually came out, so all of mine have the booklets. Course that about broke me the one time there was like...a Z Season Set, a GT Season Set, and one of the Double Feature movie tins, ALL released on the same day. My poor wallet.

I liked the covers they used for a while, but towards the end there it kind of did go against what I was expecting/wanting. If it had been me, this would have been the covers.

Season One: Goku (Instead of Vegeta)
Season Two: Vegeta (Instead of Goku)
Season Three: Freeza (Same)
Season Four: Trunks (Same)
Season Five: Cell (Same)
Season Six: Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (Instead of Super Saiyan Goku)
Season Seven: Great Saiyaman (Instead of Piccolo)
Season Eight: Gotenks (Instead of Majin Vegeta)
Season Nine: Kid Boo (Instead of Super Vegito)

They did pretty much what I would have for the Dragon Ball and GT sets, at least in the end anyway. Originally I kind of thought there should be a Tenshinhan cover somewhere in Dragon Ball, or use Piccolo for Season Five, but I liked starting and ending it with kid and adult Goku. And for GT I originally thought maybe giving Pan a cover, but eh...with only two sets, it's kind of hard to give everyone their dues.

Actually, I guess for GT, I would have left off SS4 Gogeta, and had 'Season One' have a regular 'kid' Goku from GT cover, and then 'Season Two' would have been SS4 Goku.

Did FUNimation draw up the stills for the characters, are they from Toei? If anything, I'd have liked them to use Nakatsuru's DVD art.

Didn't they use the wrong Krillin for a Dragon Ball set too? I think there's only so many drawings they've got to use for these things.

Yeah, I think it's a picture from later in the series. The eyes are wrong.

I don't understand how that Krillin art is wrong, besides his scarceity(sp?) throughout those episodes.

It's that the art they used seems to be a chibi adult Kuririn rather than actually art of young Kuririn, I think. It's bearable for me though.

Season 3 is proabaly the best cover.

My list of characters would be...

Season 1 - Vegeta
Season 2 - Goku
season 3 - Freeza
Season 4 - Android 18
Season 5 - Cell (In his first form)
Season 6 - Super Saiyan 2 Gohan
Season 7 - Supreme Kai
Season 8 - Majin Vegeta
Season 9 - Super Buu
