How much stronger are Goku and Vegeta than Goten and Trunks

How many times stronger are the fathers? We know that if the boys go SSJ then the Fathers have to as well so it's obviously below 50x. I have seen up to 10x and as low as 3x. What's your placement?

Goku and Vegeta are about 4x stronger IMO.

I generally put Goku and Vegeta 3-4 x stronger than Goten and Trunks.

I generally like to go by the Fusion Saga to determine this. I think Gogeta can beat Buutenks and Buuhan, but isn't extraordinarily stronger than them. So basically something like this.

So I guess according to that Goku and Vegeta ( retaining the Majin power up ) fusing would be 3x superior to Gotenks. That seems fair to me.

I generally like to think of Ssj3 Gogeta being equals with Base Gokan.

Yeah, I was having the adults about twice as strong as the post ROSAT kids.

Who says the kids were far below Gohan? Gohan said that if he wasn't careful, then Goten would end up stronger than him, suggesting that he's not much weaker than he is. And if Gotenks got much stronger in the ROSAT, then that would mean that Goten and Trunks got stronger as well.

Gohan just says that the kids are strong without training so if they are so strong as brats, they can surpass him in the future. That means nothing

Goten could not touch Gohan and said he was amazing. Piccolo says a little gain while separated is bigger while fused

Since I go with Gogeta not being too far off (if at all) from Vegetto, I have the kids about 8x weaker than the adults.

Goten and Trunks, in Super Saiyan, seem like they're each around Android 18's level or stronger (but not a whole lot stronger.) The Mighty Mask costume restricts their movement some, yeah, but they still can't be that far ahead of her or she wouldn't be able to keep blocking their attacks without having any trouble. It was only when they used a ki blast that she seemed worried; before that she was just surprised that someone who she thought was a normal human fighter could be so strong.

Goku and Vegeta in Super Saiyan would both be capable of effortlessly stomping everyone from the Android/Cell saga up to and including "semi-Perfect" Cell, as well as most likely beating Cell Juniors without much difficulty and putting up a good fight against Perfect Cell too (though it's unclear whether they ever caught up to his full power, they should definitely be above the suppressed power he showed against Goku by the Buu saga.)

I would probably put Goten and Trunks (pre-training) somewhere above Android Saga Vegeta (when he got his ass whupped by #18) but below Cell Saga Vegeta (when he was able to beat up 2nd-form Cell.) Everyone was so shocked by Super Saiyan Goku's 50% before the Cell Games, which suggests that Goku's 50% was definitely stronger than Vegeta or Trunks were during the 2nd-form Cell fight. So even at this point, the Buu saga kids would have to be less than half the power of Goku. And then by the time of the Buu saga, Goku seems to have surpassed Gohan's power during the Cell Games (though by how much is unclear, since SSj2 Majin Vegeta was equal to SSj2 Goku but only "maybe" stronger than SSj2 Kid Gohan was.)

So yeah... I don't know about a specific "multiplier" for how much stronger the adults are than the kids, but there has to be a pretty significant gap between them. Even at the start of the Cell Games it would already be more than a 2x gap between Goku and the kids, and that gap would be even bigger in the Buu saga when Goku's gotten to a point where his SSj2 power is greater than or equal to what kid Gohan was capable of. I guess something like a 3x or 4x gap would be the lowest I could see working at all, though exactly what the gap would be depends on exactly how you have your power levels set up for everyone (...which is why I don't have a specific number in mind, I haven't actually come up with my own list of levels in a long time.)

And yeah, I figure Gohan's statement about the kids catching up to him was just referring to how absurdly strong they are for their age. Gohan himself wasn't nearly that strong as a 7- or 8-year-old, and he became massively stronger between that age and his 10th/11th year when he fought Cell. Gohan's imagining a hypothetical future Goten who started training hard and got stronger at the same rate that Gohan had when he was a kid.
