Question about the human fighters
Were Krillin, Tenshinhan, Yamucha and Chaozu simply born with more potential than every other human in history, or would any human warrior be capable of reaching their level of power if they had the same dedication and unique training opportunities?

Re: Question about the human fighters.
If I remember correctly, Kuririn had a huge untapped potential at the begining of Dragonball. So much that he was originally about the same strength as Goku as children, so he definatly had greater strength than a normal human even without special training.James R. Tenshinhan had great power because of his third eye thingy...Chaozu, well I don't think he's even human, and since he never becomes strong anyways it doesn't seem to matter.
I think the best example is Muten Roshi, even though he was once the Earth's strongest fighter, it took him 60 years to master the Kamehameha and he never learned to fly. Yamucha on the other hand picks up both techniques while he's still a young man.
So my guess is that the Z senshi indeed have greater potential than a normal human, since Roshi is probably the best example of a normal human.
He was slower and weaker than Goku even at the begin of the training, and he cheated sometimes to look stronger. I don't know why most people think he was as strong as Goku at the begin. Yes, Kuririn was very strong for a boy(Kuririn stated he could run as fast a an olympic champion). But you also have to remember that Kuririn was one of the weakests at his old temple. If I remember correctly, Kuririn had a huge untapped potential at the begining of Dragonball. So much that he was originally about the same strength as Goku as children, so he definatly had greater strength than a normal human even without special training.

Yeah, it would... you just have to position your hands in the right way and fire a ki blast, though, so they easily could.
I know firing a ton of small blasts is a renzoku energy dan or whatever, but is there a name for each individual blast? I figured they were just nameless, tiny balls of ki, but I could be mistaken.
I think Roshi didn't have much potential. He just worked his ass off. Who would spend 3 years trying to get some water, even if you live forever? It might have took him a hundred years to figure out a kamehameha, so just because he actually invented it doesn't mean that much...

Are you sure? I believe a regular ki blast is different from a Kamehameha, since the later allows you to focus all your bodies energy/ki on a specific point. Or something.Zackarotto wrote:Yeah, it would... you just have to position your hands in the right way and fire a ki blast, though, so they easily could.
Not true. Every friggin sentient race other than those of Earth can manipulate their KI in one way or another. If you mean he was the first human to manipulate KI, then you forgot about his master Mutaito, and possibly his rival, Tsurusennin.I mean, the guy invented Ki manipulation.
But only ONE of which can fly. Yup.And he's got a turtle. Yup.
Although he DID have a phoenix at one point, but it died so that doesn't count. Nope.

Of food poisoning no less. A phoenix eats ASH for Christ's sake! What, did he give him semi-burned coal, mistaking it for ash??

Hee hee: Phoenix sneezes à la Lunch and turns into a falcon, THEN eats ash which is what kills it.

Bah! What are you, trying to create a plot hole?! That would insinuate that Roshi already knew Lunch prior to DB AND that the phoneix died of something other than food poisoning! Bow your head in shame!
