FUNimation at Anime Expo
It looks like FUNimation is going to have a big presence at Anime Expo (July 4-7), with panels and events every day of the convention. If anyone is going, can someone please ask them if they plan on releasing any more Dragon Boxes?
Any word from them at all, even if it were a "no," would be better than their total silence about it.

Why are people still mulling over Dragon Boxes? If they have something to announce, they will. FUNimation isn't going to just tell the fans what Dragon Ball releases will be.

Not even close, especially the possible dub announcement for Movie #14.

The last time new information was given about the Dragon Boxes, it was because a fan asked (the "something cool for 2013" comment, which I am paraphrasing). It is a perfectly legit question, and I don't see why you have a problem with it.

It would be amusing if they didn't announce anything but a release of the Ocean dub of Kai.

They will announce it when there's something to announce. They could say, "Based on the response from our survey about the Dragon Boxes a while back, and in conjunction with our latest survey about the Blu-rays, we have decided to not move forward with any more Dragon Boxes at this time."DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:They will announce it when there's something to announce. That wouldn't be spoiling any surprises and would have addressed fan questions.
I, too, see no problem with asking.

Yeah, exactly. Even if they said, "We're working on it," or "We had to put that on the back burner," or something else vague, it would be more than the total silence we've been going on for, what, over half a year now? There are lots of ways to answer the question that would let us know if they are even interested in releasing them anymore. And if they've abandoned the idea and they say something like Mike said, why not just let people know? Then the people who are holding out can go ahead and get their Blue Bricks or movie sets, which FUNimation would profit from, and the suspense can finally be over.VegettoEX wrote: They could say, "Based on the response from our survey about the Dragon Boxes a while back, and in conjunction with our latest survey about the Blu-rays, we have decided to not move forward with any more Dragon Boxes at this time."

Re: FUNimation at Anime Expo
Didn't we here something a while back along the lines of "The next release of the Dragon Ball anime will be in 2013"? If that's true, I'm pretty sure the most likely thing would be a Dragon Box release. I wouldn't be too surprised if Dragon boxes were announced here, but at the same time, I'm not getting my hopes up, as always.

Yes, that was hinted at. I wish I was able to talk to someone at FUNimation in person to ask. I imagine they will have some kind of Dragon Ball announcements at Anime Expo, at least. Hopefully it won't just all be rehashes of what we already know.NessMudkip wrote:Didn't we here something a while back along the lines of "The next release of the Dragon Ball anime will be in 2013"? Asking about the possible episode count, even an estimation would be nice.

FUNi's FB page mentioned about Battle of Z, and with us knowing that comes out in the US, containing SSJ God Goku, that would be the perfect opportunity for them to reveal a dub for Battle of Gods....
...maybe. We got Tarble in a game, and we still haven't seen a JSAT dub in the US yet. But, this would be the greatest opportunity for them to announce BoG, with BoZ coming out in the US, containing SSJG. Why not?

That's entirely on Shueshia, who owns the rights to JSAT. Battle of Gods, on other hand, is Toei's.WesMan23 wrote:FUNi's FB page mentioned about Battle of Z, and with us knowing that comes out in the US, containing SSJ God Goku, that would be the perfect opportunity for them to reveal a dub for Battle of Gods....

Well, JSAT is being packaged with BoG's home release, at least certain versions IIRC, so if they can get that, and FUNi gets BoG, then it's reasonable we get both features. This would just be the best thing to announce.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:That's entirely on Shueshia, who owns the rights to JSAT. Re: FUNimation at Anime Expo
I have to imagine something Dragon Ball-related (other than the new game) will be announced. Between Anime Expo and Otakon, this is the time of year when anime companies announce their bigger titles.
I do hope the fans go to town when asking questions: I want to hear about Battle of Gods, the new Blu-Rays, the Buu arc of Kai, the Ocean dub, future Dragon Boxes; ask about it all!

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
Re: FUNimation at Anime Expo
Because what is available for the original series in blue-brick form is, while serviceable, woefully incomplete. We don't get the original title cards, the proper opening and ending animations(I know this isn't FUNimation's fault, but a problem is a problem), and the picture is zoomed in. I can't speak for GT's green bricks, but we at least know the picture isn't better than the DBOX for that.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Why are people still mulling over Dragon Boxes?

The GT green brick/bricks are also missing the Japanese title cards. Additionally, the opening animation has Funimation's Dragon Ball GT logo super-imposed over the original one. That part I always find very out of place. I associate their logo with a rapper's welcome to the grand tour; instead, an English adaptation of "Dan Dan" is playing. Super weird. I'm starting to think they were right when they said, "You don't know GT!"B wrote:Because what is available for the original series in blue-brick form is, while serviceable, woefully incomplete. Back on topic, though. I hope somebody can ask about Dragon Boxes. I, like many other fans, want more.

Re: FUNimation at Anime Expo
Ha! Yes, I would love a DBox release of GT too, if for no other reason than to get the right logo. Gosh, that's a silly reason, but it was also silly to replace the logo with an almost identical logo in the first placethe original ero-sennin wrote: Additionally, the opening animation has Funimation's Dragon Ball GT logo super-imposed over the original one. And ACTUALLY, now that they're using the better audio for the TV broadcasts of GT, it's conceivable that a U.S. release of the GT DBox could have better quality audio than the Japanese version. I know, I know, that's probably just a fantasy. Sure would be awesome though.

Not there personally, but heard there was a panel talking about online stuff, as well as an announcement for "Strong World" which a lot of folks are wondering on. And their fb is posting quite a few pics of cosplayers, including this one:
