Been on hiatus, need community to fill me in
Since this past January for some odd reason I told myself I was done with everything Dragon Ball. I haven't watched or looked up any information about the franchise since then. All the sudden I found myself today watching it again and realized how great this franchise really is and to call myself a fool for even giving it up. I scanned through the Kanzenshuu homepage and read up some old and current news. So instead of looking up threads that have been made about each subject (too much to read for so little time), I'm asking you the Kanzenshuu community to please fill me in on all the "definitely must know" information. I read something about a new video game and some new DVD set featuring the original Canadian voice cast, what's that all about?

Rock The Dragon - Original Ocean Group voices from the initial FUNimation/Saban dub. Meaning the edited "53" episodes and the edited version of the first 3 movies ("Tree of Might" being the three-part edited-for-TV version).
Battle of Z - Hard to explain. I honestly suggest you read (I know you said you won't) the last 3 pages of the official on-going thread about it.
Some people got banned but that's not why you're here.
Great and long was Gohan a SSJ or SSJ2 argument and Broly debate. We got a sexy fan art topic now. A lot of theories been posted since January . Some accepted. Some...just not....good enough so we speak.

Re: Been on hiatus, need community to fill me in
Battle of Gods came and went at theaters, and made over ¥3 billion at the box office. Kanzenshuu had in-depth coverage of the majority of the news deluge (including the first detailed synopsis to be made available in English), which was promptly copied and pasted by the rest of the Internet. Many loved the movie for its humor, avoidance (indeed, outright subversion) of the typical DBZ movie plot line, and clear love for characters both old and new; others disliked it for its avoidance of the typical DBZ movie plot line, and also the various and sundry spanners it throws into the established continuity. Blu-Ray and DVD versions have been announced for September; the Limited Edition version will also include the 2008 Jump Super Anime Tour special on the bonus disc, in what will be its first release through standard distribution channels.
The "Chōzenshū" guidebooks, condensing Daizenshuu volumes 2 through 7 down into four volumes including new information, are out. And in addition, there's a sexy new art book, the "Chōgashū" (Super Art Collection), which is essentially a souped-up version of Daizenshuu 1 with high-quality presentation. Nobody's really sure how long these books will be in print, so if they interest you, might as well scoop them up now. Especially the art book.
The "Saiyan" and "Freeza" arcs of the Full Color Comics, a colorized version of the original manga, have been released, and colorized chapters of the manga from the very beginning through to the end of the Saiyan arc have been released digitally through major booksellers, including Amazon's Kindle Store and Apple's iBookstore (accessible with Japanese accounts only). For unclear reasons, there are subtle differences in coloration between the print- and digital releases, most noticeable with Kaiō's outfit. Meanwhile, Viz has been releasing the same Full Color Comics chapter-by-chapter starting with the Saiyan Arc in its digital Shonen Jump magazine, but the translation remains the same old same-old, and Popo's lips are colored in. (There's also the inexplicable choice of Optima Nova as the lettering font. Bizarre….)
Also on the manga front, Viz has begun releasing a 3-in-1 edition (separate from the VizBigs) that is, intentionally or not, an insult to fans who care about the presentation of the series. In spite of their borrowing the cover art from the Kanzenban release in Japan, the paper is thin and low-quality, contrast is poor, and despite promises of an "uncut and unedited" release, censorship remains.
FUNimation's dub of Dragon Ball Kai's Buu arc is basically confirmed as already in-production, thanks to unguarded statements by certain voice-actors, but official announcements continue to be elusive. (So, pretty much the same status as the Japanese version….)
Then there's the edited dub thing, as mentioned above. We live in an era of Nineties nostalgia, now. Be very afraid….
