It seems to me that Yajirobe had the best potential out of any DBZ character. Yes that includes Gohan. I'm being serious. I remember a comment on here that I agreed with. It went a little something like this. Yajirobe just by surviving in the forest had a battle power that rivals Goku(kid) who was the strongest hero at the time. Which is quite true. Yajirobe who for all
WE know doesn't have martial arts training. We do know he's a skilled swords-men. That could play a big factor as well. But let's remember Goku is a skilled martial arts training and train almost everyday and Yajirobe is just a forest man who lives in the forest I'm guessing. Most of this is fan-speculation since I doubt Akira Toriyama meant for Yajirobe to seem he has such big hidden powers and could easily been one of the strongest. Now let's flash forward to Z era. Kami states EVERYOne surpassed Kami meaning Yajirobe as well. So I suppose this is the 312 to the 980 range for Yajirobe. I have him stronger than Chaozu to be honest. We know that Yajirobe from what we saw did not train good(Counting fillers) and did dodge Krillin's punches. So his power increase is great for someone who's not the best trainer in the world. This means Yajirobe might have some hidden power that we'll never see. To think.
This Guy
Could had went to Namek and gotten armor and look like
Had me trained to reach his full potential and lost some weight.

It is very well possible. But any potential died in the Saiyan Saga, like everyone else.

Kenjutsu is a martial art. He would have had different training than Goku, but that doesn't make him any less of a martial artist.

I very well known about Kenjustu. I was just separating swords from fist fighting for less confusion. Since not everyone knows about martial arts.

Back when Yajirobe first appeared, I was almost sure he was a distant relative to Goku, but the connection would never be made. The main difference is he actually doesn't like to endanger himself without need.
Even after I learned about Goku being a saiyan... well, I still think there's a chance that one or a couple of Saiyans actually crashed on Earth a long, long time ago (like the ones that arrived on planet Plant). A very VERY diluted Saiyan heritage: He eats A LOT, is somewhat selfish and has great strength (compared to the average human).
Anyway, that's my personal canon.

That Yajiorbe is a Saiyan? Would't he have a tail through?

You might be onto something.
Tien: has also alien heritage.
Krillin: ...well, he doesn't have a nose to being with!
Chiatzu: He is an ever young living doll.
Yajirobe: Possibly with Saiyan heritage.
The legendary Super Human is... *gasp*
YAMCHA.

Yajirobe had a lot of character potential, but was introduced far too late. It's sad, because I think even the anime team considered his introduction important and played a brand new piece of music when he shows up to find his fish eaten by Goku at the end of that particular episode.

I think it's good how he doesn't stick around like the others. He's just this strong guy who shows up and helps them from time to time, but tries to stay out of the part where the heroes get their asses kicked.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on

I like the fact that Yajirobe stays true to his character throughout the entire series. Even menacing villains like Piccolo and Vegeta were turned around by Goku's charm, but Yajirobe remains steadfast in his selfishness. The guy is always the first one to run away from a fight, and that stubbornness is actually kind of refreshing in my opinion.
As for his potential, it's very possible he could have been one of the strongest humans if he wasn't so lazy. He was almost able to keep up with the best of them in the Saiyan saga, so imagine how he would have turned out had he been focused on his training instead of stuffing his face all the time.

His could have been Human Piccolo. Their gains are almost the same. Imagine a human being stronger than a base saiyan.
