My idea as to how Future Trunks turned out

Well, after defeating Cell and visiting the main timeline one last time, he helps fix the damage the Androids cause. He also reactivates Android 16, marries Videl and has a son named Puck (as opposed to a daughter named Pan), grows out his hair and beard and ends up looking like how he did in the Cell Games ... but with a beard!

Lots of men with long hair get beards, and we've Trunks with long hair, so I think this works well. He'd still get haircuts and shave from time to time. Also, on the name Puck, like Pan, it's used in Greek mythology. I feel as Puck is a good male counterpart to Pan. What do you guys think?

The laboratory never blew up in Future Trunks' timeline. And I think the long hair and beard would look great on Trunks. He's already been seen with long hair, so a beard would go well with it.

Look at Cell's flashback when he became Super Perfect Cell. Bulma would cut his hair and not mention his beard.

16 would be destroyed. Check Cell's flashback. Videl would most likely be dead. Especially since she's the same age as Gohan. Plus I'm pretty sure Trunks dies a virgin. He seems more like a Mom's Boy but with Vegeta's seriousness.

Akira Toriyama haven't stated ANYTHING about canon. Only Battle of Gods(Debatable) and movies were.

The manga doesn't explain everything and leave gaps that filler can fill in when needed. Such as Gohan's training.
