Most wince inducing scene

Post by RandomGuy96 » Sun Aug 11, 2013 10:41 pm

A simple thread: what moment, in the manga, anime, or movies, was the most disgusting or disturbing to you?

I'm gonna say when Freeza vomited blood. But then I find that disturbing in general when it's the result of a physical blow. I just think that particular instance was more disgusting than when Gohan or Vegeta did it, for some reason.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I kind of agree that with physical blows you can sort of imagine how it feels. Similarly I got a funny feeling when Freeza was holding back Goku's 20x Kamehameha and for some reason I imagined how that felt, a cold burning sensation on my palms, it definitely made me wince a little.

I also was terrified, and still feel a bit queasy watching, when Dr. Gero is draining Yamucha. I hated the absorption/draining sequences (I'm looking at you, Cell). :|

Tenshinhan losing his arm is pretty brutal. All though, the original dub script ruined the impact of that scene, with him making some reference to it growing back.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Old Piccolo Daimao's beatdown of Goku in the anime. That was brutal.

Piccolo's fight with 17 where they constantly exchange blows so hard you see their fists and feet through their backs.

Videl's beat down via Spopovitch.

It's... it's really brutal and very uncomfortable.

Piccolo tearing off his shattered arm, breaking Goku's legs, Freeza tearing off Nail's arm, and Freeza elbowing Goku in the nose.

Out of those, the most, the hardest to watch is Piccolo tearing off his own arm.

I'm assuming you mean when he did it during the 23rd Budokai, right?

Yeah, that one hurt to watch.

Yeah. The fact that he tears it off himself makes it more painful, for some reason. The arm is broken, but he tears muscle and skin.

Definitely this. I have a hard time watching it. I'm always screaming inside at a Gohan for not rushing in there.

For me, this would be the time when Vegeta willingly killed a man while trying to blast #18, and #18 did absolutely NOTHING to either stop Vegeta or lead the blast away from the truck driver. I mean, I could forgive a lot from this series, but that fricken scene...to this day, I still have trouble trying to reconcile that with #18 supposedly being not that bad a person >_<!!

Woah, that sounds like a doujin to me.

Anyway, some of those hits where a fighter's fist seems to make such an impact that it pushes the back of the opponent out always make me wince a bit.

Oh, and Buu pouring himself down some guy's throat and exploding him from the inside. Yikes.

This and ReaCoom playing around with Gohan and breaking his neck in the end.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Videl vs Spopovich, especially in the anime. Tenshinhan breaking Yamchas leg, I can't handle ankle, leg injuries. And Dabra bleeding from the eyes by getting punched by Boo

Yeah, I got to agree with Videl and Spopovich. It's so uncomfortable to watch because the pain is so realistic...
Is it possible to watch DBZ with epilepsy?
