Best versions of DB movies 2, 3 and 4

Post by YamiAtomsk » Wed Aug 21, 2013 12:40 am

So I was planning to buy the original Dragon Ball movies to complete my DVD collection when I spotted a review online for Funimation's 4-pack of the movies on amazon.
According to the review the "re-mastered" version of movie 2 has some frame rate issues with it apparently being cut from 24 fps to 12 fps.
It also said that there were audio issues with movie 2 and that the Japanese audio for movie 4 was in mono instead of it's original stereo.

Can anyone here shed some light on this? Should I just get the 3-pack and the remastered blood rubies to be on the safe side or are the issues noted not noticeable enough to be a problem?

I had decided to collect all the movies recently as well and found the 3-Pack Movie Box and the first film single for about the same as the complete collection. I don't want to even imagine what it'd be like to watch a Dragon Ball film at 12 FPS. Even if it costs a bit more, I'd go with the older DVD's.

Honestly the Movie 3 pack and blood rubies single is the way to go for the most part, Movie 2's framerate was indeed chopped from 24fps to 12fps for the movie 4 pack release (why the hell FUNimation did this is anybody's guess), not only that but honestly the colors for the footage on the movie 4 pack are an eyesore see here for more info: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 1&start=20 the only drawbacks to the Movie 3 pack I can think of are, the ending sequence to DB movie 3 has half of the footage covered by a purple boarder with english credits as a way to block out the Japanese credits (which Toei STUPIDLY placed on the footage itself instead of doing what they had done previously with the first 2 movies), and IIRC DB movie 2 has an audio problem about halfway into the movie on the Movie 3 pack release, but other than that, everything else should be fine.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).
