What If Masako Nozawa Gave Goku and Gohan A Deeper Voice

Post by TheGmGoken » Thu Aug 29, 2013 8:29 pm

What if Ms. Nozawa gave Gohan or Goku a more masculine voice. I have NO issue with their voices. I just curious on how the results would be like. I used Sony Vegas for this and took about 30 seconds to do.

Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nano2VDO0dk

I like Gohan's but to raspy.
Goku would suck with a JPN Nozawa deeper pitch voice  .

Anyone else y'all want me to make? Vegeta with higher voice?

What's your opinion on the voices had they been deeper(Hypothetically)

I think she sounds fine deeper, it's a little too heroic sounding at times and you obviously lose that childlike spirit a bit with the pitch shifted but yeah, it's not bad.

This. It sounded good but I missed the childlike part but I think she sounds plenty deep naturally.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Ok...that was AMAZING  !! It's like Goku still has all of Nozawa's wonderful qualities AND is undisputably male! The only issue I have is the seemingly monotone way she says "KAA-MEE-HAA-MEE-HAA!", but hey, that was pretty wonderful!

I thought this was not going to work... but man, I was wrong.

It actually sounds really good.

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! I would LOVE this on Bardock, Tullece, and Adolescent Gohan. Goku, however, should stick with his high pitched voice  .

No matter how deep(Unless I made a joke deep video) the way She says KAMEHAMEHA can NEVER change.

Bardock and Gohan would fit best. I love Turles voice.
I prefer this a thousandfold.
Goku still got that feminine sound to it but it's more or less like a soft spoken male.

If Masako Nozawa were to pass away or retire, and it became necessary for someone else to play Goku... this is how I could picture her successor sounding in the role.

I'm fine with her voice. You could have JP Vash the Stampede's VA if you want something similar though but a man.

It works to some degree, but it loses a lot of quirky charm.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

To go off-topic slightly, is this first clip from the orange bricks? I distinctly remember arguing with someone who said that a 16:9 crop doesn't hurt the cinematography at all and this is great proof that it fucks it up severely. Just look at 0:14, Gohan's lost his face! Even slightly before that, you've got Goku in frame and then only the top of Kuririn's head!

Wish I could remember which thread that was in just to say 'I told you so!'.

Yup this is the orange bricks. I prefer if I didn't use DBox in my Amvs because they take up more space. So I normally use Orange bricks. However unlike this video all of my videos I enhance the quality because orange bricks were shitty. An example of this is this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxnF_e6gxPs . I used different sources for each. 0:00 - 0:12 are from the single sets. 0:12 - 0:25 was the orange bricks/ Movie dvds. 0:25 - 0:44 was badly ripped 240p clips. 0:44 - 1:08 was Single sets where I used different scripts for each clips. 1:09 - 1:22 = Orange bricks.
