WHAZZIS?! Can't read Japanese! Help!

Post by Dayspring » Sun Feb 29, 2004 12:40 pm

I found this on the Dragonball World site under #2. Is this a new/remake of a Daizenshuu or what? #2 gives all these images/explanations of Z. What's going on on this site? Could somebody please explain all of Dragonball World? Someone like, say, Julian? PLEAAAASE??!

Okay, first of all:
Daizenshuu EX - Images - Covers - Non-Daizenshuu Guides

Basically, DragonBall Z: Son Gokû Densetsu is a guide to the entire story and all the characters of DBZ (with special focus, of course, on Goku). In terms of content, it seems to be an amalgam of both stuff borrowed from the Daizenshuu (which are no longer in print, so I suppose they're fair game), along with lots of new stuff, and plenty of color pages.

There's a breakdown of the series by saga, information on pretty much every character with so much as a line in the series (including filler people), A "face-to-face" chat between creator Akira Toriyama and Animation Director Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, the structure of various organizations in the series, original sketches by Akira Toriyama for certain anime-only characters, a "glossary" of terms, a full list of episodes and their airdates, and... other stuff.

So... if you can read Japanese, it's a pretty indispensable book. But even if you can't, there's still lotsa nice pictures to enjoy.

Hope that answers your question. :)

I recently found out about this book and I was wondering if they are the same. The cover picture is the exact same one, but this one has more writing. Does anyone know the difference between these 2 ?

The bottom part is a wraparound ad piece that you can take off when you get the book. All of the DB Kanzenban volumes are like this, as well. :)

The symbol says "property of anybody BUT Toriyama-sama". It's just a stamp. Look at it with a magnifying glass.

That book is always being auctioned off on E-bay if anyone is seriously interested in getting one. For some reason though, they call "DBZ Bible Book" in their listings. Don't know why.

I am most certainly NOT scanslating 250+ pages of material, thank you very much. And besides, maybe with enough begging, we could get Viz to put it out after they finish the series...?

s'ok. There was a sale at Toyrs R Us recently. Seems ancient-themed Monopoly games (like ninja turtle-monopoly) don't sell as well PS2 consoles. Go figure. Anyhoo: I bought 'em up like NASDAQ shares for when Monopoly is only available on PS6 and the Nintendo GameOctogon, and people start to become willing to pay quajillions for modern games. (Note: at which time "modern" will be that epoch's "retro")

Wouldn't it be funny if they made a "DBZ themed" Monopoly edition? :D

Considering the number of different ones out there, I wouldn't be OVERLY surprised. Hell, they've done a PPG one...

(And have they done different city versions in the US, or is it just the main one, whatever that is?)

Aside from the Interview and Episode ratings data, the book is a waste of cash if you have Daizenshuu, as is the Dragon World release which is solely useful for (again) new in-depth Toriyama data.
