Greatest DBZ games of all time?

Post by GS7X7 » Mon Sep 16, 2013 8:51 pm

What are your absolute favorite DBZ games ever? Post em all here! :D

Admittedly, I've played only a small handful of them but I'm curious what the more hardcore players like most.

1. Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors, Gameboy Advance/Color?

2. Legacy of Goku 2, Gameboy Advance

3. Legend of the Super Saiyan, SNES

4. Dragon Ball Z: Buyū Retsuden, Sega Genesis
Sean Schemmel is THE MAN! :)

Me- "Also, before anyone mentions it, Schemmel's interview was from nearly 15 years ago. He paid a brief visit to Kanzenshuu's forums a few years back and earned legendary respect that cancels out anything he said from that long ago. :D"

Budokai 3, Infinite World, or maybe RB2

I feel the Tenkaichi Series is vastly overrated when every character pretty much plays the exact same.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Infinite World/B3, Legacy of Goku II and BT3.

Honorable mentions to Legacy of Goku I and Boo's Fury- yes, I like LOGI, haha...

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Budokai 3 (Infinite World = Budokai 3.5) / Super DBZ / Battle Stadium D.O.N

I know BSDON isn't a DBZ game but heck it's a ton of fun and the Smash Bros. of DBZ in home consoles version.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

The camera is broken on RB1, gameplay is sluggish and overall it's a much inferior game than RB2/BT3.

Dragon Ball Z battles are known to be fast-paced not clunky slow fights.

Some of my favorites are Infinite World, Sparking! Meteor, and Supersonic Warriors for the what-if stories.

What do EX and Julian like most? I'm curious what they think since they're probably some of the few people to play nearly every last DBZ game in existence.

By far, Super DBZ, Shin Butouden and Infinite Wolrd/Shin Budokai2 > the rest.

Super DBZ is the most fun for me, It was the first PS2 game I played with the quarter cycle motions, so It felt wierd adjusting to it with the ps2 controller (which, by the way, works great with this game, thnaks to the jump button), however, after that it had everything for me, good character models, stages, loads of attacks and overall an amazing and I repeat, amazing gameplay, even at a basic level with only doing the stuff from the movelist, It's loads of action, loads of stuff happening on screen and overall really good, only problem I have with it it''s its modes, only arcade and survival can feel repetitive after loads of hours of gameplay.

Shin Butouden for being one of the first DBZ games I got, the gameplay isn't that great (atleast, not compared to the fighters at the time and after) but with every character having beautiful sprites and stages, the arcade mode endings, the team battle mode, the mr satan mode and the music, It is a fun game, it's such a shame it had no dept like the other fighters.

IW and SB2 for being the best in their formula, they are stuff from atleast sb2 that I really wanted to see in Budokai 3 or Shin Budokai 1, and IW just feels more complete than Budokai 3 in terms of everything gameplay-wise.

My favorite DBZ games?

Gee... I dunno... I guess I'd rate them like this

5. Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors

4. Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans

3. Dragon Ball Z: Sagas

2. Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World

1. Super Dragon Ball Z

I love Super DBZ. It's probably the best DBZ fighting game ever. However, a different game would have gotten the #5 spot if it had been a DBZ game, and that's;

Honorary mention: Dragon Ball GT: Transformation

I like beat em ups and I think DBGT Transformation is a solid game.

It feels my heart with joy to see the love for Legendary Super Warriors.

Now I have to go back to rage-quitting against the Ginyus. Damn you Recoome... :problem:

Budokai 3, Sparking Meteor, and Raging Blast 2 are my favorites.

I'm actually not the biggest fan of that one. Not because I don't think it's good mind you - I just suck at it. Like, badly. There's a reason I don't play actual Street Fighter much. :P

Hmm, let's see...I'd have to say my favorites would be Budokai 3, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Legacy of Goku II/Buu's Fury, and Legendary Super Warriors. Budokai 3 feels the most complete in it's story mode, letting you tackle pretty much any given situation with the characters they give you in the game, and the gameplay, while simple, is fun even in it's repetitiveness. Tenkaichi 3 is kind of in the same boat, just for different reasons - it's story mode may have more to offer situation wise, but it doesn't handle it all very well. On the flip side, it offers a shitload of characters. Sure, they play mostly the same, but there's just something fun about being able to kick butt with Arale dammit!

Moving to the handheld side of things, the original Legacy of Goku didn't quite live up to it's potential, but both of it's sequels definitely did. I'd argue they're still the best RPGs we've ever gotten for the series, and Buu's Fury especially offers a lot of post-game potential to mess around with. Legendary Super Warriors is also really fun, and makes good use of it's card-based combat, though I've never truly gotten to enjoy this game to it's full potential. My copy must have some kind of glitch ever since I bought it way back when, because I've never been able to do the 'new game plus' and unlock the villains and other characters - it always just deletes my data and I have to start over, bleh.

Infinite World = Budokai 3.5
Indeed. But it's a vastly more refined gameplay wise and more enjoyable version of B3 IMO.
I like beat em ups and I think DBGT Transformation is a solid game.
I like side-scrolling beat em ups too and apart from the graphics was disappointed.

How'd I forget that one? I have to rank it slightly above the SNES RPG, it's quite fun!
