Your Most Prized DB-related Posession

Post by DragonBoxZTheMovies » Mon Oct 21, 2013 1:50 am

Looking at my collection now, I'm not sure that I could only name one thing. I can't believe the amount of nice stuff I've managed to pick up over the last 7 years (I didn't really have DB merchandise when I was younger).

The obvious answer would be my Dragon Boxes, but they're some of the easier ones to find and I haven't really had them all that long. Same goes for my Limited Edition copy of Battle of Gods- it's not rare yet and it's still new. Once I get the poster and the postcards framed, I'm sure they'll be right up there in a couple of years. I also enjoy having the two art-books that I own, and I feel like my collection would be missing something if I didn't have my Manga volumes there.

I think I'm gonna have to be different here and say it's the Remastered Double Features. I know it's the "faux-remastered" stuff, but I do have a lot of nostalgia for the movies and I think these DVDs really capture my a certain aspect of my fandom. It was the first release that I actually kept up with and something that I bought, pretty much, as they were coming out. The time-frame in which they were released is also when my interest in the franchise really took to a new level and I really find it fascinating how I ended up going through all three audio tracks in terms of viewing preferences. I started out watching the ENG dub w/ the US score, before moving on to the ENG dub w/ the JPN score, and finally I arrived at the "Original JPN Audio Track"- and I've stayed there ever since, apart from a few exceptions (cough, DBZ Movie 5).

Fuck, can I just say all of it?

I actually value my Chogashu/Golden Warrior artbooks quite a bit. And the Dragon Boxes. Especially since I got Nozawa, Furukawa, Nakao, and Minaguchi to sign them. :D

I would say the manga should be my most prized DB posession... but they're just the old Viz SJ graphic novels. They don't particularly feel expensive, premium, or super-collector quality. I think if I had the Kanzenbans, I'd be able to hold those more dearly.

Maybe once Viz releases the Full Color Comics physically, I'll be able to rate those highly.

What an interesting question! If I could only keep one part of my collection it would be my 7 Dragon Boxes because I love having the show constantly on hand. But the piece IBM my collection I have the strongest emotional attachment to is my HQDX Majin Vegeta figure. From the moment I started collecting figures that was the one I wanted the most. I was so excited when I finally found one at a price I could justify. Now it stand proudly as the centerpiece of my figure collection. Plus it simply looks badass look. Man I'm glad I don't actually have to make this decision!

My SonMay DBZ song collection.

Why, if I found out it was a bootleg, I don't know what I'd do to myself!

(Seriously though, my Dragon Boxes.)

The Dragon Boxes, no question. I am fond of the Full Color Manga I bought with my Battle of Gods Blu-ray purchase though.

Those cels are sexy.

Did you get them custom-framed or did they come like that?

Got them custom framed. Would have preferred a better font but meh, my Dad's friend did it for free so I can't complain.

But when it comes to physical good, I'd say it's a tough up between my Pioneer Saiyan+Namek saga box sets or Dbox the movies.

I value my cassette tape collection the most. I'm not talking about some American VHS tapes but the Japanese audio cassette tapes. They're most cassette tape versions of Hit Song Collection albums (released on the same day as the original CD versions from the 80's and 90's). I have 11 of such tapes.

BUT, the most prized cassette tape of all of those I have is one called ''Dragon Ball Z: Korochan Pakku - Uta to Dorama''. Released on July 1, 1989, it has none other than almost the entire audio of DRAGON BALL Z EPISODE 2. And its broadcast audio quality!! The only downfall of this release is that it's only about 80 % of the episode's original audio, some scenes were cut to make place for 2 crappy songs from Hit Song Collection 1. However, I'm still happy to have this because it's such a rare cassette tape! Here are some photos if someone is interested in this release:

However, despite the quality of the audio for DBZ ep 2 on this cassette being superior the Dragon Box quality audio (obviously), it is still slightly inferior to the magnificent sounding of the Big Box. Maybe the reason for that is that cassette tapes are generally a worse format than CDs in terms of quality. Anyway, as kid Gokuu would say: ''a great haul, a great haul!''

Definitely my copy of Budokai 3 on PS2. So much nostalgia and happy memories. :)

I remember waiting for months for it to come out and not being able to find a copy for the first week or so after release in the UK. Then finally I found it in Virgin Megastore and played it non-stop for months.

Apart from that I have to say I was really pleased with my Rock the Dragon set.

My poster that my sister got for me on my birthday. I use it to get all the signatures I can. I currently have Sean Schemmel, Chris Sabat, Vic Mignogna, Chris Canson, and Ryo Horikawa.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
