DBZ Funko POP Vinyl Figures confirmed for Spring 2014!

Post by geektacular » Wed Oct 23, 2013 9:28 am

For any of you toy collectors out there, you might already be familiar with Funko's POP Vinyl figures. They are bobble-heads designed like urban vinyl figures: Very round-ish, big heads, and big beady eyes. Here's a typical looking one:

Well, on the company's official forum, the owner Brian Mariotti confirmed that the world would indeed be getting some DBZ-themed POP Vinyls in Spring 2014!:

The same information was also carried by the popular POP collecting site PopVinyls.com:

This is kind of a big deal since this line of toys has recently become pretty popular for geeky collectors, as Funko has licensing to produce these for Marvel, DC, Blizzard, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Duck Dynasty, KISS, and lots of other currently popular shows/movies/comics. Sounds like we might actually be getting these after several years of people putting these on their "Wish List" posts over on Funko's forum, ha! :D
I just watched the entirety of DB/Z/GT for the first time ever from April 2012 to April 2013!

I'm a figure collector, but these have just never particularly appealed to me, and I've never actually bought one. I might make an exception in this case, since I tend to like Dragon Ball no matter what form it takes.

I always found these figures to be really ugly, I don't see the appeal. These seem to be insanely popular though.

DBZ is popular with people who grew up with it during the 90's, so I'm not surprise by this. I don't collect toys like this, I go after figures made for adult collectors, not stuff for kids or casual people.

Meh, they only sell these at places like Hot Topic like they do with other Pop Vinyl Figures. It won't really change much.

They sell them at bn's, they're not particularly cute tho. Some of them look kinda awkward to be honest (ever seen the Mickey mouse ones? Or Hello Kitty?). The best ones at least have mouths (Finn).

Now DB nendoroids or cu-poche figures, those would be cute (and would earn a purchase).

They've had a few of these in Hastings before, but I've never really been tempted...I guess I'll reserve judgement on these until I see them, but chances are they'll look about the same too, so I'm most likely not really interested.

Decided it probably would be okay to add this response, despite the topic's age.

Found some art of these guys. Pretty much what you'd expect, but I might pick up a couple as cute collection additions, should I come across them at a convention.

I dig the Piccolo one - but I guess that's just largely because he's my favorite character.

They remind me a little of Panson Works figures.
