Well I certainly can't draw that well.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

7/10.
Decent. Some of them are a little off. But none the less. It's a good fanart.

Re: So I drew these pictures.
The rendering is OK but the foundations could be improved a lot. There's little in the way of structure, proportion and volume. It's more or less typical of people with the drive to be an artist but without a specialized education for it; I was like that around mid-high school I'd say.
I did some sequential drawings of my own take on the Vegeta one to show what I mean:
My only other tip would be that if you're going to try to replicate drawings from the Dragon Ball franchise in order to improve, avoid episodes done by Ebisawa or Uchiyama like the plague.

Couldn't have said it better myself.ErikB wrote:*everything*
I also fell into that same trap when I was a kid. It wasn't until 2005 or 2006 that I finally learned about proportions and how to properly sketch, and I'd finally consider myself a decent artist.

Re: So I drew these pictures.
To add what Erik and Metawario said, it's pretty uncommon for the people to be able to draw without the need of foundations. While it's not easy, it can be done if you are more focus on it. It took me nearly 7 hours just to imitate one of Toriyama's famous Goku poses (without the need of foundation) like the one below. It came out pretty good. I definitely wouldn't trade my drawing for any other things. It was my most difficult drawing I've ever had of DB characters.
The point is, it takes tremendous amount of time and practicing to achieve the way you wanted without the help of foundations. I almost never use foundations. It's just not my nature to do such a thing. I just straight up draw the details from the start instead. If I'm going to start a manga, I definitely won't start with figures.
Edit: Found it in my Photobucket account.

The details are good but the proportions are a bit wonky.

Yeah, I probably need to fix Goku's legs. They are a bit bigger than needed to be.ringworm128 wrote:The details are good but the proportions are a bit wonky.
Edit: Are you talking about my drawing or the OP?

Honestly, I think that's an example of why you need to understand proportions and do rough sketches rather than trying to go for a complete drawing in one shot.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:

What do you mean by face being misaligned?

Compare Goku's right eye in your drawing with that in the original image.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:What do you mean by face being misaligned?

Ok. I don't see what's wrong with Goku's eye. Please explain it in detail.kei17 wrote:Compare Goku's right eye in your drawing with that in the original image.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:What do you mean by face being misaligned?

Ah, I see it now. You even went so far as to point out all mistakes. Yeah, your edit to my drawing does make it look a lot better. Thanks, Kei!
