Which DBZ game had you the most hyped for release?
For me it was Budokai 3 closely followed by Tenkaichi 2. I was so excited about B3 because of all the awesome additions to the gameplay and the fact it was the first good DBZ game to include movie characters, GT characters and SS4. I actually started to have dreams about the game close to its release date which is something no other DBZ game has done for me.
BT2 had me hyped because of the insane additions to the roster and the fact that it was what BT1 should have been. And all the costumes and story mode had me really excited too.

I was pretty hyped for Ultimate Tenkaichi before I knew it sucked.

Re: Which DBZ game had you the most hyped for release?
Anyone else a fan pre-Final Bout...? Anyone? Anyone at all? Bueller...?
'Cuz I think that pretty much takes the cake. Unless you were super early into the emulation scene with a powerful-enough computer or were already a VERY well-established fan with lots of outside knowledge, it was pretty much the "first" Dragon Ball game you were going to play that you actually knew was a Dragon Ball game. It had things well beyond what the syndication run was up to, which was bonkers. It was receiving coverage in video game magazines. Hype. Train. Choo-Choo. Ride it.
After that, it was probably Budokai 3. It was clear the games were just getting better and better, and learning how the underlying fighting system was getting enhanced so much was super freakin' exciting. It pretty much fired on all cylinders and hit a home run and took the prize and was the bee's knees and the total cream of the crop.
Considering the fact that I've been running a website since 1998 and basically covered every single game in-depth since the resurgence, it's been super-hard to get me super-excited pre-release. I know too much. I need to be eliminated. The truth is too dangerous.

Re: Which DBZ game had you the most hyped for release?
And now I'm reminded that I still haven't played my copy of Final Bout, despite having finally picked it up after years of never finding it...I am a bad, bad gamer.
When I first got into DBZ, I didn't really have any newer gaming systems, just a PlayStation and an SNES. So imagine my disappointment when I picked up Legendary Super Warriors for GBC only to find out it didn't work with the Super GameBoy cartridge on my SNES. So I had to tide myself over with Ultimate Battle 22 (which I can't remember if I got that before or after LSW) until I finally had a PS2, and the original Budokai. Good times.
As far as being hyped pre-release goes though? Hmm. I was pretty hyped up for Budokai and the Legacy of Goku games, but again, I didn't initially have the systems to play those on (though by LoG II I did have a GBA). Budokai 2 became my first PS2 game but I didn't really look into it too much that I can remember. It was probably Budokai 3 that I first got really hyped for, with lots of characters and story modes to mess around with. I think the most hype I ever felt was for Budokai Tenkaichi 3 though. After being let down with the original game of that series, and 2 being a big improvement, 3 was poised to finally be the 'perfect' DBZ game to me. I wouldn't call it 'perfect' now, but it still wasn't much of a letdown at all.

Re: Which DBZ game had you the most hyped for release?
Budokai 3 and BT2 for me as well. Even though I played all the games preceding it from UB22 forward, I distinctly remember the agonizing wait for those two games, spending countless hours on discussing new information with other fellow fans both on the internet and outside. Then around Christmas 2004, my hype reached its climax when a couple of friends and I went to stores just to look the boxarts of the game before getting it a few days later anyway. Totally retarded in hindsight but I remember it dearly. And as for BT2 a trailer showing Zangya vs. Dabura with a catchy song playing in the background (I think it was Fly High from the games' score) immediately sold me on it because that tune was stuck in my head.

Budokai 3 for me since I remember I had to change my grade to E to A- in music just to play back in the 8th grade. There was a lot of rumors on who was going to be in it and one rumor list had 80 characters in it like King Vegeta.

Believe it or not, I was pretty hyped about Battle Stadium D.O.N. when it came out... of course, I never owned an import console, so I never ended up playing it. The consensus seems to be it's decent, but nothing special.
I actually am looking forward to J-Stars and Battle of Z quite a bit though... now that I have a console that can play imported games.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

BT2 had a lot of hype with the new story mode at the time and ingame transformations. The story mode was mention to be a mixed between Budokai 1 and Budokai 3 which end up being nowhere close.

Probably Burst Limit or Raging Blast.
Before the PS3/360 era, I wasn't even aware that the games were coming out and I only knew about them after I'd actually seen them in the shop.

Dragonball: Final Bout.
Why? I saw clips from E3 on a VHS someone filmed and sent me after going there, and they showed BIG energy beams and the game had dragonball characters in 3D! Strange how that never got into the game, though.

I was pretty excited for Budokai Tenkaichi 3, I bought a Wii just for that game. I was also hyped for Tenkaichi Tag Team, especially since I was one of the 2 winners back when Daizenshuu hosted a contest for a free copy of the game.

I think the best dbz game is:
bt3
raging blast 2.
bt2
budokai 3
infinite world.
But I hope that we will see dragon ball raging blast 3 or dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 4 in the near future.

Probably Tenkaichi 3 because of the huge roster. The idea of being able to play almost 100 characters (excluding transformations) was mind-blowing to me.

Re: Which DBZ game had you the most hyped for release?
Final Bout. Even though it was release 1 year after I was born. When I first started hearing people talk about the game and myself seeing some trailers. I was pumped. When I finally got the game(2 years ago) I was disappointed but at the same time happy that I got to experience the game. The other 2 are Ultimate Tenkaichi - Blast and Tenkaichi 3. Ultimate Tenkaichi trailers was BADASS and the scan pictures was SOOOOO great. I was ultra hype for this game. Until it came out. I wish they said rock or paper gameplay when it first came out.
When I first saw Tenkaichi 3. I qas like "HOLY SHIT!". I saw Trunks's Fighting SSj Finisher(Heat Dome) and I was like "I'm getting this for XMAS". Basically Trunks's finisher is the only reason I got the game. It was FUCKING BADASS in the trailers. It was also the last DBZ game that got a trailer on TV in USA that I SAW on multiple channels and they was mainstream channels. I really wish we saw more DBZ games got trailers here.

What does this have to do with anything? This is asking what game made you hype to get the game. Not what was the best DBZ and what game you want.Super Saiyan God wrote:I think the best dbz game is:

Well...by the time I got back to being really into everything Dragon Ball again, Raging Blast 2 had already come out. So the answer for me, sadly, is Ultimate Tenkaichi. But only until I really got to see what they gameplay was going to be.
