New Toei DVD covers

Post by DBW » Sun Nov 27, 2005 6:24 pm

Toei has released the cover art to the next three DBZ DVDs, and just like the first 3, they truly look amazing! We've posted them on the www.kanzentai.com main page, and you can also check them out on the Jumpland site here: http://www.jumpland.com/dvd/dvd/index.html

Great! Thanks, DBW. The Goku vs. Vegeta looks the coolest, Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail is great too. I'm not a big fan of the one with Krillin though.

Totally agree, though only because the Krillin one attempted too much (him, the Kakusan and EVERYBODY it hits? Yikes). Even that was still good, though. Toriyama rocks. Which I could find a bigger pic of the Yajirobi one: I luffles my big cuddly people-killing giant monkeys. :P

That last one with Vegeta and Yajirobe does it for me. I love seeing Human Charaters doing something amazing like that.

 HUZZAH! Seriously, Toriyama-sensei seemed to always give the humans the boot in DB.

Kakusan, eh? I never knew they named that technique. The only thing I've ever heard it called was 'Krillin's weird, unnamed, super-attack move' and that was from an issue of Shonen Jump in November 03.

They were doing something about DB and DBZ techniques in one of their articles...

I kind of like having amazing Techniques like that...unnamed (Did the Daiz give it that name or something?) because it gives him more of a...glorious mystery feel.

Greg's got it named as the "Kakusan Kikou Ha" in his attack listing.

My bad. Apparently "Kakusan" more or less means explosive. The technique is called the Kakusan Kikoha, where kikoha is a typical ki blast.

For example, Piccolo uses the "Kakusan YudoKikoha," which more or less means "heat seeking/head hunting explosive kikoha." This technique was used against #17.

God, I love new art!

I like Yajirobe cutting Ohzaru Vegeta's tail... The artwork is very reminescant of the Budokai 3 and Sagas openings. Anyone know if these are drawn by Toei's "One Piece" team?

I'm pretty sure Toriyama drew these (it definately wasn't the One Piece animators, though). Some one with the disks will have to check the cover art credit.

Something about it doesn't seem too Toriyama-ish when compared to his new artwork for "Dragon Quest VIII" and "Blue Dragon".

Indeed, the Goku V. Vegeta cover is the best out of the different covers. :) Although #6 does look quite good. Are these DVD re-releases, or do they coincide with the Dragonbox?

I think Toriyama drew the originals and someone else (or possibly himself) touched it up with a computer.

The episodes on these disks coincide with the episodes on the Dragon Box disks, but the cover art, menu designs, etc. are different.

Ahh, I see, Thanks! Sadly, I would buy these just for the new box art. :)

Does anyone know when they're gonna post some pics of the movie box? Do they usually post pics of the packaging before it releases?

Toriyama-sensei and his wife do the coloring on their Mac, as stated on the author's comment in the "Kajika" tankoubon. Look up Kajika or Dragon Quest VIII, that's what his computer coloring style looks like.

I think it might be the guy whi's did all th new art for the DragonBoz sets and anniversary pics.
