I think these part sets are a really good idea if they're being put I various supermarkets. I know when I see old cartoon DVD's in stores it makes me wanna pick em up. I recently picked up Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers and Ducktales because of it so I'm sure it'll likely have the same effect.

While simple they look really nice and I wouldn't mind picking them up for that reason but unfortunately they're ruined thanks to the Orange Bricks poor video quality.

I was hoping they'd at least use the GT Complete Series art for Season 1. And change the awful GT logo. I'm guessing it's gonna be on the openings, unchanged from the original US release. Not my only complaint about the release, but I'm probably not gonna get these unless they're dirt-dirt-dirt-cheap.

...THIS is what they had planned. But that deal fell through and they were left with the Season 1 Parts that they had already made, which they'll now sell online and not make anymore of. Or so they said in their recent podcast.

I know that charging £3.00 wouldn't be too much but if they did I'd say they would have plenty of customers buying it for their child or relative who likes anime/dragonball so there's that.

£5 for an awful picture quality release.. no thanks Manga.

The plan was to use them as an entry level/impulse buy kinda thing, to get them to either keep buying them or move on to the complete season sets later on. Which would work, because the market for that doesn't know or care about cropped widescreen or blur or color issues (for the most part). But it seems they had a really small window to get that through and ended up missing it.

How are they irrelevant? Okay the first one arguably is because he doesn't transform until the end but it is a major plot point. And I don't see any problem with Gogeta for Season 2 as he is the strongest character that appears in GT after all.

Anyway I'll be picking both of these up for sure.

Those GT boxsets...so lazy. Just the same as the US ones, which I imported years ago. And you can still buy said US sets, new, for cheaper. If they wanted to entice people to buy these, at least put some effort into the covers , change up some stuff. I bet the disc menus are the exact same too. Zoiks.

SSJ4 Goku doesn't appear until season 2 does he? Gogeta on season 2 is acceptable, but he's still only in, what, one or two episodes?

SSJ4 Goku is seen mid transformation towards the end of the last episode of "Season 1". SSJ4 Gogeta appears for only one episode in S2.

SS4 Goku on the cover of Season 1 makes as much sense as Gogeta on the cover of Season 2 (Not much). Goku's transformation is the very end of the very last episode of this set, if I'm not mistaken (besides being shown at the end of the new opening animation for the Baby arc, a few episodes prior). Gogeta is...uhm...half an episode, at best. Yeah, it's cool, he's the strongest character next to the Genki Dama, but half an episode.

The problem with the cover art is that it's not the best art of those characters to begin with. If they went with the art from the Dragon Box GT single 2, with Trunks, Pan and Goku for Season 1 and the single 11 art, with Goku, Vegeta and Gogeta for Season 2, with the original GT logo, you're pretty much covered. Doesn't fix the video stuff, but that's a whole other thing.

That's interesting. I actually hope they include both logos with the reversible cover. The Z DVDs had a reversible cover so it's a possibility.

That's pretty neat of them. Hell, if the video stream ends having the correct logo as well, I'll swallow my pride and grab these when I get the spare cash for it.

No, unfortunately both the singles and Green Bricks for GT are interlaced, but the Dragon Box version is progressive.

That's a really cool touch though I wish they would've changed the colour too and going from "Season One" to "Volume One", unfortunately the video would still have that metallic GT logo.

The BBFC have rated GT Season 1 but I found this funny. Basically for four of the five discs they credited the Blue Water actors as the cast. I wonder where they even found that cast list since it's not as well known as the Funimation cast.

That is strange. Haha maybe they'll surprise us and include that dub as a bonus track. It's very unlikely though. It would be possible seeing as Blue Water dubbed the whole series and it was close to being unuct anyway.
