DBZ Budokai 3 vs DBZ Shin Budokai Another Road

For people who have played B3 and DBZ SB/SBAR, which game do you ultimately prefer and why? I know that some people prefer the shin budokai games due to their gameplay changes, while others may prefer B3 due to content, story, etc.

The Shin Budokai games were great for portable games, but I'd have to go with Budokai 3 just because of the larger character roster. They were pretty similar though, except for that Story Mode from SB:AR...strange story.

Neither. Infinite World takes the best from both games (and takes a lot of the bad) and provides a better experience.

Budokai 3 has a better character selection and the gameplay is more fresh out. Shin Budokai 2 had a awful story mode and the gameplay was Shin Budokai 1.5 in my opinion.

It's kind of hard to compare a console game and a handheld game that are only one generation apart. As such, we can't compare the rosters and graphics.

In terms of battle mechanics, it's a definite win for Shin Budokai 2. The fast-paced and real-time combat in SB2 triumphs over the cinematic and Hyper-Mode-filled battles of B3.
I'll have to give the story mode to B3. I can appreciate that SB2 tried something new (and interesting at that), but the whole experience was just so sluggish and repetitive, not to mention they ruined what could have been a good What-if. I could say the same for B3, but I had a much more pleasant time going through all of the characters' Dragon Universe 2-3 times to 100% than I did for my first run through Another Road alone.
Character customization also goes to B3. Both allow you to change a character's stats, but one game just offers more options than the other.
Lastly, I'd say the AI is more challenging in SB2 than in B3, not to mention that it can't constantly go into Hyper Mode.

Aside from that, B3 is just a bigger game (more modes and the like). My verdict: B3 is a better package overall, but if you want to just pop in a game for a few battles, SB2's is my suggestion.

Or just play Infinite World. It pretty mashed together the best of both games (save for the removal of beam struggles).

Infinite World combined the 2 games titled. The dashing/smashing involved in fighting made it unique, and the Dragon Rush was taken out. Plus the action was slightly faster paced, as well as better combos. That's why I wished they did an Infinite World HD instead of Budokai 3.

Indeed. My favourite is Shin Budokai 2 but Evolution (same engine as the Shin Budokai games) and Spike's Tenkaichi Tag Team is pretty damn fun and addictive.

I'm glad to own all four games with their original covers, especially Tenkaichi Tag Team because normally the cover that's available is from the Essentials' series which I hate.

The advantage of buying games with the Essentials/Classics/Platinum brands, is that (aside from the low price) they are the updated versions of the games, with all the patches and bonus included.

While that's true I just don't like those cheaply shitty covers at all, like for example, Budokai 3 Platinum has the extras & Japanese audio but I always avoid the Platinum/Essentials/Classics because I favour more the covers. I'm too picky, I know.
