Why does Kanzenshuu never criticize other dubs of DB?

It annoys me how people on this site refer to the Funimation dub as "the dub" which is very vague as there were about 10 dubs long before the Funimation dub existed, such as the French, Cantonese, Portuguese, Catalan, Mexican-Spanish dub, Spanish-Spain dub, Mandarin dub, Thai dub and I think even Hebrew predated it, so how can you refer to the Funimation dub as "the dub" if one, there are several dubs of DBZ and two, English isn't even the most wide spread dub?

Also, you see people from countries with inaccurate dubs criticizing the Funimation dub, so why don't you criticize their dubs. If it's out of fear of being called hypocrites, aren't they the original hypocrites?

Why does nobody critique the French dub? That dub in theory should be far more intrusive than the Funimation dubs, because it influenced almost every European dub, while the Funimation dub influenced only a few dubs. Is it because we speak English? Well, if more than half of this site is not from the US or Canada and more than half of those do not speak English as their native tongue, shouldn't that be more reason to criticize other dubs?

When the French dub premiered, nobody talked about it, because the gap between the French and Japanese versions were about a year, if not even that, even though apart from replacing the music, has the SAME flaws as the Funimation dub. When the Funimation dub came out, people where shitting on for doing things other dubs were doing before.

Just because the Funimation dub was bad, it doesn't mean other dubs were better. The Funimation dub is a lesser of two evils compared to the French dub. Not to mention, the script WAS worse. People say the French dub had a better script, but the French dub's script was consistently bad. The Funimation dub script varied in accuracy and while bad overall, changed around a lot.

So why the hypocrisy? English is the 3rd most spoken native language in the world. Not 1st. 3rd. The two Spanish dubs have a bigger reach than the Funimation dub, so why don't you pick them apart?

I think the point you may be missing is that we are on an English fan site. We aren't (most aren't?) equipped to judge dubs that we can't understand. I'd say most here can only speak English, right? So why criticize an English speaking community for focusing on an English dub...?

This is a predominantly English speaking website. Of course we're going to focus on the available English dubs.

With the members who understand and do speak those languages, those types of discussions and criticisms do poke up from time to time.

I don't think anyone has ever said those other dubs were any better so I don't understand where the hypocrisy accusations are coming from.

Same reason no one criticizes changes made to foreign dubs of US cartoons. Americans have the "we don't care what those foreigners do" mindset.

I don't think it has anything to do about us "Americans" not caring about what "they" do or do not do. We just aren't equipped to judge because we don't speak those/are familiar with those languages.

I can't say the staff of Kanzenshuu even really say much about the english dub either... For going in depth about other dubs, people from various contries would need to go on the podcast, or maybe it could be done in the wiki in works.

Such a task would be quite formidable but so very interesting. I'd love to cover the Latin American/Spain dub with someone if I ever got the chance to.

Well,this is English website.If this was Italian website,we would criticize Italian dub.

This community is primarily English but then if people bring up discussions about other dubs they're either going to get praised or criticised.

One of my favourite dubs is in Brazilian Portuguese but they really messed up when Gohan went up to Super Buu and instead of calling him an idiot or something, it seems like they copied from FUNimation's script "It's a nice day, huh?" (or something similar) and then all were shocked. It'd have been understandable if they used the original script instead as to why they were scared.

As for Portugal's dub it's one of the worst out there so better to just leave it at that.

I wonder if it weren't for AB Groupe (Hеrcule) what would Mr. Satan be called on FUNimation's Z dub. We'll never know.

First off, at the risk of coming off as rude, especially as an administrator: we get it. No, really. We get it. You're saying the same thing over and over in lots of different threads about lots of different things. I don't know why you feel the need to keep bringing it up over and over. If it's something you feel passionate about, great. I do totally get that. Right now, however, it's coming off as a very tired shtick, and you've barely been here long enough to even warrant having a shtick. Take a step back and reevaluate that. You're here because you - presumably - want to join in on the conversation and contribute. Right now, though, it's coming off as "parrot my opinions back and me and when you don't I'll just make a new thread saying the same thing."

Second, please be aware that there is a difference between the four administrators of this website and the rest of the community that happens to post on the forum that happens to be attached to this website. The four of us that run the site lost interest in actively/loudly criticizing any adaptations of the series many years ago. It no longer affects us, except in the case where misinformation from said adaptations is spread and needs to be corrected. Do not mistake apathy for enjoyment, but do not also mistake apathy for anything other than apathy. Long story short, "Kanzenshuu" (the actual website, and not the various community members on the forum who do not and cannot have a hive-mind) at this moment has no real criticisms to make right now because we focus exclusively on the original Japanese version of the franchise, and we're not interested in talking about the adaptations.

The viewership of the website as a whole is 50% North American and 50% international-beyond-that based on the stats I most recently took a look at. There have been plenty of threads about various dubs throughout the years (we've been doing this since 1998). Maybe you just haven't seen them because you haven't been looking or maybe you haven't seen them because they're just not up at the top and relevant anymore. For example, there were lots of threads about the various international dubs of Kai when that was new and relevant. That was also four/five years ago.

It's not like the global fandom that happens to come here and happens to speak English is, at any given point in time that you happen to be viewing and happen to want to engage in the discussion, will at that exact moment be criticizing the particular dub you want to criticize.

We welcome your contributions. We want them. Just be an awesome person about it and realize that the entire rest of the community who's posting on any given day may not be interesting in joining in, and this does not necessarily infer anything beyond that.
