Might Vegeta have an OLDER brother?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Might Vegeta have an OLDER brother?

Post by LeprikanGT » Thu Feb 06, 2014 8:39 pm

I have been looking at a bunch of the character models and family trees in the show and it seems like every second child in each family looks almost identical to one of the parents [or drastically more so that the first].

Goku is Bardock's second child, and they look just alike. Goten is Goku's second child and they look just alike. Bra is Bulma's second child and they looks pretty much the same with the hair and such. Then when it comes to Vegeta, he looks just like his father, which by following the patern would make him the second child.

Is it just the style choices of the people in charge or could there be something to that; seeing as how we already got introduced to Vegeta's YOUNGER brother. [whom I think should be a bigger part of any new animation and games, but thats a different topic all together]

If he did, then why would Vegeta get the title of prince?

The only way I could see it happening is if somehow Vegeta's older brother was a good-hearted Saiyan and therefore considered "unfit" to sit on the throne. King Vegeta decides to vanish him from the planet and his name is erased from public records. It has happened many times in history, in different civilizations. e.g. Pharaohs in ancient Egypt, Emperors in Rome, etc. so it's not a far fetched idea, tbh.

However, from a general franchise point of view, it wouldn't add anything valuable to the franchise. And at this point, I think people are getting tired of too many good hearted Saiyans IMO.

All royal children are princes or princesses but only the oldest becomes king or queen usually.

I always assumed Vegeta was a Crown prince which is different from just being a prince. It's not an official title, more a like casual word to mean that he's the designated heir to the throne. I have nothing to back this up, though, only some scenes from filler where King Vegeta shows him the kingdom he'll someday rule :silent:

Though the Saiyans being a warrior society I'm more inclined to believe that succession to the throne is based more on physical strength rather than being the oldest.

It's also possible that the first Vegeta kid was a girl who was, I dunno... married off to another space royal family? (There's a bad Mary Sue fanfic waiting to happen.) Or maybe he or she is just dead.

Hey, considering Toriyama's love of introducing never-mentioned family members, I wouldn't be surprised if we do get another Vegeta sibling one day.

(Also, Bulma is a second child and she doesn't look exactly like either of her parents. Of course this theory could still apply only to the Saiyan family trees, but Bra looks more like her human parent than her Saiyan parent.)

The thing that's always got me about Dragon Ball siblings is that there are never more than two in one family, and that(with the exception of Vegeta and Tarble and (possibly) Raditz and Goku), there's always a large (10-15 years) gap in age.

Well, Bulma got a sister from out of nowhere, same with Goku, and Vegeta's had this happen to him once as well. I suppose it's possible. I doubt it would be a very popular revelation, though.

Eh, I don't think I'd be too fond of him getting a third sibling. Especially not an older sibling that happened to be stronger than him, which I fear is the route they'd take. That kind of story can be done well, and has been in at least one fan comic that I can think of (Malik's), but...eh...I'm probably alone in this, but I like Table a little bit because he's the exact opposite of the expectations you'd usually have for a brother to Vegeta.

Still kinda wish he'd at least thrown a single punch or something, but what can you do.

If Vegeta had more siblings I would be dissappointed I'm still dissapointed with Tarble.

Anything's possible at this point. They'd rather do outlandish things like "X's secret brother/sister/lover" than bother with actual movies and such. Hopefully that's changed though!

No, but he had a cat named Lady Peckenpaw, who he loved dearly, until she scratched him once, causing Vegeta to kill every single one of that species of cat.
