Question regarding the podcast's intro/recap music

Post by rs_chaosmaster » Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:32 pm

I've always wondered why did Daizex/Kanzenshuu choose Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku as the instrumental song in all of the Podcast vidoes. It seems like a perplexing and interesting choice since most people on this forum feel that GT is the worse of the three series. Does Kanzenshuu feel that GT had some of the best instrumental backgrounds out of all three of thee series?? Was it done more or less in the spur of the moment kind of thing?? I appologize if this is explained on the site somewhere but I am rather curious??

Well, I have to stop you there because you're asking a question based on inaccurate information. The podcast has always opened with a recap theme from the DB TV shows, but it hasn't always been what's used now. The first 199 episodes opened with the first Z recap theme because the first 199 episodes of Z used that theme. From episodes 200-291, the second Z recap theme was used because, again, that's how long it was used in the series. From 292 until now, the GT recap theme, the next chronological theme, has been used. In fact, it's extremely likely the most recent episode will be the LAST appearance of the DAN DAN theme because it has officially been used for 64 episodes now, the length of the entire GT series.

For consistency. If you listen to the past podcast episodes, they uses the first DBZ "head-cha-la" intro, then from episode 200-291 they used the second "we-gotta-power" DBZ intro in conjunction with episode 200 of DBZ. It only made sense to use the GT "DAN-DAN" into for the podcasts episodes that go past the 291 mark thus far.

Oh that is sweet. That is a very creative and intelligent idea. I guess i just remember the recent podcasts. Never would have thought VegettoEX and the other runners of this site put that much thought into it.

Any idea what they will be using next? Dragonball, perhaps?? Although chronologically that wouldn't make sense.

Well, I doubt it was thought about at the beginning. The DBZ recap music was probably chosen because it fit and is arguably the most recognizable beginning-type music in the franchise. Then it got used for a few years, the podcast numbers got higher and higher, and it's not far-fetched of them to realize, "Hey, we have almost 200 episodes. Hey, in DBZ, episode 200 got a new theme. Wouldn't that be cool if we did it too?!" And then it went on from there.

Incorrect. Had the plan since before the show started. You underestimate my attention to detail/insanity and I am saddened.

The only thing I hadn't thought about (well, didn't give enough thought as to when it might happen) was when I would run out of genuine "ending themes" and remixes of such to close out the show. I eventually decided that image songs would be fine after that point, and would give me a well to pull from for another long batch of time.

Of course, once I run out of those, I dunno what the Hell I'm going to do. Maybe make Julian start singing cover songs?

(Moving this over to the appropriate sub-forum.)

Well, we've got 98 episodes of Kai, and probably another 50 or so on the way with the Boo arc, with each 50-ish-episode arc having its own ending jingle to swipe.

I asked about this before. My guess would be 'Premonition of a Grand Adventure' as the next recap theme, followed by whatever the Buu Saga has in-store.

Hmm. I was pushing for DB's next episode preview theme. It's not a recap theme, but it would not have been out of place (the We Gotta Power recap theme was the same as the NEP theme). The problem with Kai's theme is that it takes too long to get to the point. They had it playing for several seconds after they started talking, and the euphonium still hadn't come in yet. Plus, it's just not as recognizable as the themes from the show's original run.
