How many of you owned a fansite/forum?
Looking back through the history of DB on the internet you see some pretty cringeworthy stuff, stuff that I know I've contributed to in the past. I was wondering how many others opened up a freewebs fansite filled with random GIFs and extremely low quality video clips/linkin park AMVs?
There are countless free forums set up for the franchise, and fan sites similar to the one linked above, and I suppose this is how misinformation was spread. I'd also be interested to know if there are any fan sites that are still active? I really only concern myself with Kanzenshuu but I'm sure there must be others still trying to cover the news.

I remember one from back in 06, I think it was called DragonBall Arena. I doubt it's still active though.
Thanks to SSJ God Gogeta for the avatar.

I was a member of that site and I remember I was the only member left before it got shut down because everyone got banned. I also had my own DB forum in 2006 which was also a Final Fantasy 7 and Devil May Cry forum. I also had a DBZ Xanga back in 2005 and I wanted to beat Daizenshuu EX at the time for being the most popular website. Neither my forum or Xanga last very long.Wibbs wrote:I remember one from back in 06, I think it was called DragonBall Arena.

I know of a couple of banned users who have started up their own Dragon Ball forums. I've never started up, or even joined, any other Dragon Ball forum myself, though.

I had a gundam site and a DBZ one but both are long gone now...
Like many it was mostly gifs, atleast the DBZ one was lol

Re: How many of you owned a fansite/forum?
There was site that let you calculate your power level; I'm sure it was legit. It had a white design with blue links, Young Goku in the header banner, a gigantic "menu" section with links... I believe the url was super simple as well, like db-z.com or dbcom.net.

I was a leader of a Dragon Ball group on Gamespot before I got banned on that site for a BS reason.

Re: How many of you owned a fansite/forum?
In more recent years I had a website about martial arts training and fitness for people who were inspired by manga like Dragonball. It had all kinds of relevant DB imagery related to whatever the article was about. I don't ever remember anyone really visiting it or giving me any opinions on the content until after I took it down. Then, people were asking me why I removed it. Haha!
I think I might remake it at some point and have Castor Troy host it on 3G Kai. Haha! Some new training technologies have developed since then that would fit right in with the Dragonball methods of training.

As someone who started their own website at the age of 16 and can speak from experience...Smochi wrote::/ How does every user on a site get banned?
Dragon Ball attracts(ed) lots of younger folks, many of whom have absolutely no right to be conversing with any other human being, never mind have any power of authority. Thankfully, most of them grow up (at least figuratively if not eventually literally) and begin to realize the world does not revolve around them and them alone.
At that point, they suddenly become awesome productive members of society, which extends to then talking with other cool folks about Dragon Ball

Re: How many of you owned a fansite/forum?
I've owned a couple back in the day - everything from my first HTML site (at 10 years old) based on the Toonami cartoons of the day, to Dragonball Z text-based RPG's on Tripod, Dragonball Z fan-fiction sites on Angelfire and a fansite 'Dragonball Z Heaven' on Geocities.
The biggest site I used to run was called BreakLimit, which also started life as a Dragonball fansite before moving into Anime and Gaming reviews. Me and a few buddies ran it for a number of years - and I've often considered bringing it back. One of the guys involved from the very start tragically passed away around two years ago, which more or less put paid to any thoughts of resurrecting it at the time.
I never had the honour to meet him in person - as he was from America and I from the UK, but needless to say - it's something that I continue to find very upsetting.

And I'm so glad for people like you, haha. As a kid, I would spend hours looking through freeweb sites full of gifs and midis. Before I had the internet speed to actually listen to full mp3s, I would burn CDs full of midi tracks.AjayLikesGaming wrote:I had a freewebs page that was one page literally just filled with gifs.

Created my first DBZ fan site back in 1997 using Angelfire.

Likewise, I've got loads of CDs full of midi tracks at home, I even printed custom art for the case and CD. It'll be a sad day when these sites are finally removed from the internet, they always remind me of the webpage Homer built in an old episode of The Simpsons, where he just crammed as many GIFs in as he couldBig Momma wrote:And I'm so glad for people like you, haha. I remember having copied and pasted episode lists, and bio's, even for characters I didn't know about yet

Yes I do, Silver Shenron (created to parallel this one and later, Dragon Ball Insider - which is more Latin American than English). I added content a bit often even Dragon Ball Kai ended, although i'm planning to add more at certain times because I am involved on other things.

I've never had a solo DBZ site that I can remember, but it's been a major part of most sites that I've made in the past. I definitely remember a few DBZ related fics on a Freewebs site I made for my fanfiction years ago...that I think finally went under thank god.
