Are You in Dragon Box Heaven?

Post by rs_chaosmaster » Mon Mar 10, 2014 2:19 pm

This Topic is more opinion based than anything but i thought it would be fun and interesting. Over this last year I have acquired the Japanese Dragon Boxes as well as a second new set of the Funimation dragon boxes. Some would say I have fallen into Dragon Box Heaven and I would say this is an acurate statement. What do you consider to be Dragon Box Heaven is owning all 7 of Funimation's set enough for you to be in Dragon Box Heaven? Please post pictures of your Dragon Box Heaven. I hope to add to mine someday with Funimation or Toei putting the dragon boxes on Blu Ray. One can only hope!

The seven DBZ Dragon Boxes Funimation released are probably the crown jewels in my anime collection. Sure, I own way better anime than DBZ, but not so many releases as good and as suited to my specific tastes as these were.

He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

For me, Dragon Box Heaven would be to own all five Japanese Dragon Boxes and then some other release accessible to non-Japanese speakers. Perhaps it would be enough if I had some cool smart TV that I could set up to automatically apply Funi's subs to my Dragon Boxes.

Though I would definitely enjoy having the Japanese Dragon Boxes I know that I wouldn't make much use of them. I would like to have them more as collectors items but eve nthen it's something that I'll get way down the line. There are just way too many other Dragon Ball related items that I'd like to pick up first.

I do own the U.S. Dragon Boxes, two sets like you do, but that's about as far as I'll go at the moment. However, if Funimation ever released DB, GT, and Movie Dragon Boxes I would of course jump on those in a heartbeat. No second thoughts, no reservations.

I mean, whether Jesus is real or not, he - he's had a bigger impact on the world than any of us have. And the same can be said for Bugs Bunny and - and Superman and Harry Potter. They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

Even though the Japanese Dragon Boxes offer the best quality for the series and films, I'd still have to go with some of FUNimation's releases due to the AR (DBZ Movie Singles were 4x3) and subtitled, although I am missing the NEPs sadly (DB Saga sets) the picture quality and subs make up for the loss time time around.

I'll take a photo this upcoming summer since my Dragon Ball collection is split up and want to have it all in one place.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

This thread was made for the sole purpose of making less fortunate members cry, wasn't it? :|

Well it worked. I hope your proud.

I only own the 3rd and 5th Dragon Boxes. The American ones, obviously. So no, I'm not in Dragon Box heaven and I doubt I ever will be. (This post is so bitter)

Yeah. There was an auction yesterday that ended at $213.50. I might have to drop $200 soon...

Wait a minute. Wouldn't I be in Dragon Box purgatory?

Now that looks great you are also in anime heaven no doubt about it dbz in my opinion have the nicest anime set out of any of them nothing comes close to the dragon boxes with other anime box sets.

Hmm, well I have all seven for FUNimation's release as well as the Dragon Book from the Japanese Z Vol. 1 set, so I guess you could say I am. :D
