Does GT exist in a 720/1080p format yet?
Hi guys, i am just overall curious because i like to take HD screen-caps of various series and i wanted to start on GT, but am unsure if it exists in a 1280x720p or 1440x1080p format yet. Thanks!

No, unfortunately. Only the Z movies and specials, and the first batch of episodes are HD so far.

Is it likely once the DBZ Blu-Ray seasons are done, we might get GT and/or DB?

I think Funi might do Blu-Rays of DB and GT in the near future. We don't know if Toei will release the shows on Blu-Ray in Japan yet since this year is the 25th anniversary of the DBZ anime and 30th anniversary of the franchise. They might hold them off for the 30th anniversary of the DB anime in 2016 if we don't get anything this year.

I'm excited to see who will be putting out DB and GT in HD first. I think it could really go either way. Funimation is a good guess since it's a pattern that would follow the DVD release of the orange bricks.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think Funi might do Blu-Rays of DB and GT in the near future. But then again it would seem pretty incredible for Toei to be beaten to the punch of putting out either DB or GT in BD before Funimation. But then again...that is what Funimation did already with DBZ so perhaps I've spoken too soon already.
So I guess my vote now goes to Funimation with putting them out on BD first but I'd guess Toei would put out a much more quality release.

And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

I don't think FUNimation owns film prints of DB or GT, i.e. everything they own is in SD.

And Funi, for whatever reason, refuses to inverse telecine its interlaced GT tapes. Even for the green bricks. Blows my mind! Until they get film masters, they'll keep using their digibetas from the '90s.Pokewhiz7 wrote:I don't think FUNimation owns film prints of DB or GT, i.e. everything they own is in SD.

I think America will likely get GT first in HD before Japan does since GT did better in the US then it did in Japan from what I've been told.

But didn't FUNimation get copied Dragon Box masters for GT? Wouldn't the digibetas of that masters be good enough? I mean the digibetas of Dragon Box quality was already better than the generational masters of DB and DBZ they got in mid-1990s. I don't think they really need a film masters of GT since the digibetas contain the Dragon Box footages.
But if they are going for HD, then that's a different story.

The Dragon Box for DBGT didn't exist yet when FUNimation started working on the show.
Their masters look similar to what the Dragon Box ended up being likely because those masters were (1) more recent and (2) probably kept in better condition due to being more recent.
