At what age did you start watching the series?
I know that this thread has been done in the past, but I can't find any recent threads for it. I was 6 when I first saw Dragon Ball on VHS back in 1997, but I didn't become a fan until I was 10 back in 2001. I got into DBZ much later then most people did because I used to hate DBZ for a while.

Re: At what age did you start watching the series?
My memories on exactly when I got into the series seem kind of vague, to the point that I'm honestly not 100% sure if I'm a year off or not...but I'm pretty sure it was during the summer break between 5th and 6th grade. My birthday is in August so that it's also between school semesters, so...I would have been roughly 11-12 years old (I graduated in 2007 at the age of 17).
...And now I feel old. *is depressed*

I was probably 6 when I started watching Dragon Ball, I really loved it, but of course I was a kid. I only became a proper fan when I started watching DBZ when I was 9 or 10.

I was about 6, watching it in syndication before it was on Toonami. I didn't really get into it though until I watched reruns of the Android arc when I was 10.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I was probably 6 cause I started watching not too many weeks after it started airing on Toonami.
Or, maybe, because of the constant repeats that irritated me to the point that I nearly quit watching entirely, I started at a later point in time. Definitely before I turned 8, though.

I was introduced to Dragonball when I was 4 years old. It was Malaysian Dub which aired on 1996.
With badass Malaysian Dub, suprisingly, it was in Malay. Not the Speedy Dub's pathetic, broken-English. Pure Malay.
Just as it ended, DBZ was aired (however this time, Speedy Dub with all of its badass-ness did). It ran over 7 years (1997-2004) alongside other popular shows in my country (Pokemon, Beyblade, Digimon etc).
Everyone almost entirely forgot about the show with Naruto, Bleach ruling. Until Kai recently came. Still no where near as outrageous as DBZ was. Kinda sad to knw such beautiful show butchered by Speedy Dub. Sigh..

You're a whippersnapper compared to me. (Graduated in 2001). Watched the syndicated DB in 2005 when I was 12-13. Really started watching DBZ during my freshman year and when Toonami reruns when I was 15.Gyt Kaliba wrote:My memories on exactly when I got into the series seem kind of vague, to the point that I'm honestly not 100% sure if I'm a year off or not...but I'm pretty sure it was during the summer break between 5th and 6th grade. I'd say about five years old.
Wait, are you saying Speedy dubbed the entire DBZ TV series?Vijay wrote:I was introduced to Dragonball when I was 4 years old. It was Malaysian Dub which aired on 1996.

Re: At what age did you start watching the series?
I first saw DB when I lived in Japan in 92, but didn't watch it regularly until I saw the first dub episode of DBZ in 96, so I was 11.

I was about 4 or 5 when I started watching Dragon Ball back in the 90's. I still remember because those were the times.

I started watching when I was 12 or 13. A friend of mine at school got me into it. I ran home from school everyday to watch DBZ on Toonami.

Re: At what age did you start watching the series?
As I recall, I was 6 years old when I started watching DBZ when it was being aired in syndication on Toonami back in 1998, and I've been a fan of the Dragon Ball series ever since.

Re: At what age did you start watching the series?
I think I was in 6th or 5th grade, I was watching it on UPN in the mornings and Toonami in the afternoon so around 1999 or 2000, so I had to be around 11 or 12 years old.

How I enjoy the anime:

Kamehameha's known as PiypoYeKo
Piccolo's name forever has been known as Majumia.
Genki Dama was known as Bola Sakti/Jiwa
To my suprise, DBKai had the VA's corrected. While the acting suck, (still does) at least naming was right this time. It was eventually cancelled due to poor ratings I guess.
The most bizarre thing is they hardly covered 10 episodes. Goku was just training with King Kai & b4 he could even start his fight, they randomly cancelled off the show. Useless garbages...

Re: At what age did you start watching the series?
It was 1996 at the great age of 8 i was watching Rugrats and my brother came in and stole the tv controller out of my hand. He changed the channel to DBZ and I was so mad because i wanted to watch rugrats i said change it back He said no you can either shut up and watch this or leave. Of course at first i was like this is stupid change back still mad but he wouldn't budge and so i was forced to watch this "Awful" show lol and that is how the Anime Monster began. The most ironic thing about the whole situation is after i watched the whole episode i was hooked and the more i got into DBZ the less my brother liked the show :/!

I was 14 when I first got into the series in 1996 and I guess would have been 15ish when I started my site in 1998.

I was about 4 or 5 when I saw the Saiyan Saga, but didn't really get into the series until Imperfect Cell was running around absorbing humans. So about 2002(?) I was 8.
