Goku's carry weight is not 40 ton!?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Goku's carry weight is not 40 ton!?

Post by flashback0180 » Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:00 pm

As we all know to overcome the physical body limit dbz use their ki to enhance their physical capacity. There fore 40tons is Gokus muscular limit(without KI) ..well this was the theory.
ANYWAY

I started reading the old Manga again(AFTER A LONG TIME)

There was one thing that i over looked the last time.

I'm talking about this scan.

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE:-

South Kai said he added 40tons ....

1>Was that 40TONS on each limb ? or the total?

2>Does that mean Goku was training with 2 tons!? ..i mean Kid Goku lifted a 1TON car in the first episode of Dragon Ball.

3>What does the Original Japanese manga translate too?

4>Has anyone officially stated anything about grand kais planet ? ...like has Toriyama stated, commented, about the whole carry weight thing?

It is just a plothole. Just like Saiyajin Saga Goku is over 20000 km/h fast and Boo Saga Gohan only 3000 km/h.

And it was 10 tons for every arm and leg, so 40 together. Also, the gravity there does not matter. If they say 40 tons already then it is 40 tons on that planet, even if heavier or lighter somewhere else.

Please, read the actual manga and not those rubbish scans.

Anyway, it's clearly stated that South Kaio increases Goku's weights to 10 tons on each limb for a total of 40 tons.

Also, that scene is supposed to take place in Heaven rather than the Grand Kaio's planet. Goku going to the Grand Kaio's planet is an anime-only thing.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

To further elaborate on Herms response, this was his translation of that particular part of the manga, showing for certain that it's ten tons on each limb, to ta total of 40 tons, not 40 on each limb.
Goku: “10 tons!? I dunno, that might be a little too much even for me…I wouldn’t be able to move.”
[ ]
North Kaio: “You can become a Super Saiyan”
Goku: “Ah, well then it’s perfectly alright!”
[ ]
South Kaio: “Te-10 tons! That comes to 40 tons of weights in total! Is this really OK?”
[ ]
*Goku becomes a Super Saiyan*
Goku: “It’s easy, easy!”
South Kaio: “…”
Furthermore, as said, the events happened in Heaven, and not Dai Kaiou's planet as the anime made it out to be, and with nothing being said or suggested that Dai Kaiou's planet has a higher than Earth's level of gravity, we can't assume that the 40 tons felt any heavier than 40 tons.

Most numbers Toriyama gives in his work are unreliable, not just the power levels.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147
