Pfff ... "Cell Games Starter Kit"
I've been looking for some of the boxed sets of DBZ, can't seem to find them in ANY stores I go to. I went to Best Buy and FYE, all I came across was the "Cell Games Starter Kit". At first I thought it was a great deal, the Cell Games box set for $27.99, but then I actually read the box. You get two DVDs ... and an empty box, hench ... a starter kit. Oh, and it's only $35.99 at FYE.
What a joke.
What a joke.

One other note about this box: I've found it to be a much more sturdy box than other Funimation boxes I've had experience with (Yu Yu Hakusho season 1).
I just wish they would speedup the release of these discs, then again I think I'm just eager to get to the re-release of the earlier episodes more than anything.

Where are YOU buying YOUR DVDs?Gohan-kun wrote:Its a good deal. $26.99 for two DVD's+ a box. Normally two DVD's are $20 each.
I've paid an average of $6 - $13.
I still don't get this starter kit. It now forces you to buy the discs separately, which are usually more expensive. Generally, box sets are cheaper than the individual discs when you add it up. Why not just wait till the whole box set is released, then buy ... unless they're not planning on releasing a complete box set. In that case, just buy each disc used, you'll save so much more money.

It would have been really nice if they'd done everything box first or box only, but it also would have been slower to get all the episodes done, rather than a little bit at a time as they've been doing.
Plus, they can make more money by going individual volumes first, because some people didn't know to wait for boxes...
Oh, but as far as where to buy the boxsets... There's plenty of cheap places online. I know three places with free shipping, in fact.

Yeah, exactly, if you WAIT for a complete box set you'll get them cheaper.tablet the eunuch wrote:So what? It's more expensive? Boohoo.
Incase you have not realised, the reason why you could get all the other DVDs for cheaper is because they have been out for significantly longer than the DVDs(or one of them) in the Starter set.

There's nothing wrong with waiting, at least from my viewpoint. I wish I'd known to wait rather than buying everything individually, but, whatever. I'm not going to cry that other people can get them cheaper now (in spite of what I may have hinted at a few posts ago).
Actually, I hope having all these cheap boxes now will encourage more people to "support the cause" and whatnot. It also takes fuel away from the anti-FUNimation types, because they can't really claim that the DVDs are too expensive anymore.
This Cell Games starter set is really cool, I think. People who don't want to wait until a complete box is done can get this empty one and collect the rest as they come out (and for only $20 each instead of $25). Or, people can just wait for a full box later if they're so concerned with price. I wish they'd put out more empty boxes, though.

This won't work in most cases, because people are still going to cry blue murder over anything else in the name of getting it for "free"TripleRach wrote:Actually, I hope having all these cheap boxes now will encourage more people to "support the cause" and whatnot.
