Dragon Ball General Blue Saga on VHS
Yes the title speaks for its self. When Funimation decided to produce dragon ball on VHS who knew they would end up stopping a little more then half way there before focusing on Dragon Ball Z. Any ways this is not about that, this is about the saga with the missing tape. General Blue saga released on only 3 tapes had one or two episodes left out and a box set left incomplete. I am here on a nationwide plea for help. I am on the hunt for the final tape to complete my set. I am looking for Dragon Ball General Blue The Pirate Cave (uncut). I even got bored enough to draw on a blank VHS to make it fit but as soon as I get this tape i will be able to do a better job. This tape is literally my holy grail because I only have one website with any records of this tape exciting so I know for a fact this tape is real. Please help me on my quest and perhaps we shall work something out. =)

thank you very much for the reply the the link but this post is more of a request of needing a physical copy slash ranting about how someone must have dropped the ball on the episode selection process.dbboxkaifan wrote:And this might also be useful: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =7&t=11569

Re: Dragon Ball General Blue Saga on VHS
I know you said this isn't about that, but this has me confused. What do you mean by that, because, that didn't happen. FUNimation DID stop production on Dragon Ball to focus on DBZ, but that was several years earlier and after only 13 episodes have been produced and released to VHS, not half the series.why_so_saiyan wrote:When Funimation decided to produce dragon ball on VHS who knew they would end up stopping a little more then half way there before focusing on Dragon Ball Z.
As for this release, they began redubbing and continuing DB in 2001, when DBZ was only a couple of years from being finished. They eventually cancelled their VHS releases, not because of DBZ, but so they could focus on the DB DVD Saga sets, which were on a newer format and provided a much better deal.

Re: Dragon Ball General Blue Saga on VHS
This was likely around 2002 and by then the VHS market was pretty much dieing out with DVD players becoming more common in house holds. I can see why they chose to stop the VHS releases and focus on DVD's instead.why_so_saiyan wrote:When Funimation decided to produce dragon ball on VHS who knew they would end up stopping a little more then half way there before focusing on Dragon Ball Z.

Re: Dragon Ball General Blue Saga on VHS
Well, I think it was also due to the content. The sales of the VHS probably showed them that, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, that DB wasn't popular enough to sustain 3-episode releases like DBZ was, and they figured that releasing 10-16 episodes at a time was the way to get it to really sell.
