Do Ki blasts burn through gloves?
Do Ki blasts burn through gloves?
If the ki is shot from the palms, how come vegeta's gloves didn't burn off from the galic-hyo
Re: Do Ki blasts burn through gloves?
There is a spiritual, mystical element to ki. Perhaps one trick to ki control is not burning your clothes, or your skin, when you fire off an attack.

That would explain it, or just good ol' cartoon logic.

Perhaps ki is radiating from one's body; there for it wouldn't touching the clothes...or something?

Re: Do Ki blasts burn through gloves?
That one is actually easy :
But I'll have to start with an assumption :
You most probably radiate ki from your whole body, you can (if you can ^^) make it faster or slower, and that amount of Ki radiated is your power level. Shooting Energy blasts is about focusing that energy, So let's say Vegeta powers himself up and forms a Ki ball, he is just gathering, part of his energy in one point, not actually moving all of it through his palm at once.
The explanation itself :
When you form energy attacks, they do Not have any touch with our body, energy is formed in some distance from you, what's more, every fighter splits his energy as offensive and defensive at the same time, because charging your energy takes some time, I find it very unlikely that someone other than Buu would risk not doing that. Hence, you are already protected from energy, so it shouldn't have any contact with your clothes, AND if you really need to touch that energy, there is a technique to put your Ki between your body and the Ki blast, actually this is the only way to touch (block with hands, deflect, slice through them) ki blasts. So if necessary you just create additional barrier, preventing blasts from destroying your clothes.
Well I guess that's it.

I think it's very easy to understand. The aura never touches the body just moving around it. So in that case the offensive attack also doesn't touch any of body parts. Toriyama also mentioned controlling Ki also important, so if you have too much ki, that will become dangerous for your body also.

Because it doesn't come out from their skin, they just form it infront of their palms by concentrating the energy into a 'point' in space(For example watch when gohan is teaching videl how to use ki.), technically they could probably do blasts without any hand motion at all(indeed, some characters do, such as using their mouth, forming infront of their chest, using their feet, etc.), but it's a psychological thing and it helps them, same way yelling does - it's not needed but they're getting really invested in it.
Similar to how some musicians or singers or voice-actors end up pulling funny expressions or movements when really getting into the action
however, if you shot ki blasts *at* someone's gloves, then sure

When Ki is radiated from the body it doesn't need to be destructive. The Ki only becomes destructive after you manipulate it outside of the body. By moving the Ki from inside your body to the outside you can then manipulate the Ki in any fashion you want. Healing, flying, destructive beams, shields, crowd control abilities like Galaktic Donut, etc. If Ki were always destructive as it left the body then SSJ's wouldn't have clothes left as they are literally on fire from their Ki.

Thanks for the explanations guys, that makes a lot more sense now.
