Can someone link me comparisons
With the Funi dub music and the Japanese dub? I see people hate on Faulconer but I'd imagine since I like rap and most of you guys like rock it would be different and yes I know neither is rap or rock.

Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

Re: Can someone link me comparisons
I actually had three episodes worth of comparisons on Viddler, but, for some reason, I seem to have gotten locked out of my Viddler account, as it won't let me log in even when I put in the right password and username. In fact, even when I RESET the password, and put THAT in, it STILL won't let me on. And then when I try to follow links from my old comparisons thread, it says my pages don't exist anymore, so...I dunno.

And regarding Faulconer; it's not a case of people having different tastes in music, it's about what actually belongs in the show and accurately conveys the intended tone. The unfortunate truth is that a majority of the Faulconer tracks simply do not do that. A lot of them are fine standalone tracks, they just don't belong in Dragon Ball.

Haha, oh wow. That's one extreme view he holds.
I mean...I don't disagree with a lot of his opinions but I don't think that's the best way to go about presenting them!
EDIT: Oh, you changed your post to refer to me now.
Well shit, each to their own. I can't tolerate Faulconer. Please keep droney synth music out of my Dragon Ball. I feel like Kai's current soundtrack exists to say 'hey, no more synth drone...but how about some upbeat synth now!'

You wrote 'And I happen to disagree with him' initially which I took to mean the uploader of the video. What I quoted was the description of his videos which I assumed was what you were referring to.
You then changed it to specify my view and so I responded underneath that other tangent that just seems very out of place now!

Ah, oh well. That certainly WAS a pretty extreme opinion though!! Wonder what he'd do if someone broke his "no FUNI fans allowed" rule. Ban them from his channel?AjayLikesGaming wrote:You wrote 'And I happen to disagree with him' initially which I took to mean the uploader of the video. EDIT: Actually...it seems like his video comment sections are like any other...huh. Guess he's not as bad as that message would've led me to believe.

The original version is the Japanese audio it's not a "dub", that's the term you'd use for an international dub not the original source.xmysticgohanx wrote:With the Funi dub music and the Japanese dub? And most guys like rock? I for one don't nor hip-hop/rap unless it's songs that were produced with quality in mind, because for example, Lil Wayne's "music" is garbage.

Re: Can someone link me comparisons
You know, Dbboxkiafan said something that I know he didn't mean, but it reminded me of one of my main pet peeves about some people who bag on Team Faulconer and the dub, and that's that I see a lot of people saying that Team Faulconer's "rock" style didn't fit the series, and the music was not orchestral, and therefore, the score was not suited for the series...
Whenever I see complaints like that, I often wonder if the haters even watched that much of the dub as opposed to just basing their opinions off of what the majority said. Because if you listen to the score, it's definitely not "rock". "Rock" was the insert songs you got when FUNI dubbed movies #4-10 (where I thought they did an absolutely terrible job on the music btw. Good thing they lessened up on that as the movies went along...)
I mean, there are rock songs in it, like "Destruction", "Super Buu", "Super Perfect Cell", and "Mr. Satan", but it definitely doesn't compose the majority of the library! Plus, there actually are a ton of orchestral instruments in the songs themselves, like the choirs in "Frieza Begs" and "Majin Buu", or stringed instruments, things that certainly aren't "rock".
I mean, I guess if I had to boil the score down to one style, it'd be "techno" since techno instruments seem to be what the score uses the most consistently, but even there, you'll find many songs that don't have any techno in them, like "SSJ Transformation", "Sad Theme", "Guru's Theme", "Frieza Dies", "A Little Help From a Friend", "Majin Buu", and others. Granted, most of those songs seem to be from the Frieza Arc, and the show did seem to put more and more techno in the score (with the most prominent being the tail end of the Buu arc), but the point is, the Team Faulconer score isn't one that you can really boil down to just one specific style.
I mean really, it's so frustrating

I'm with you on this. people say Faulconer's music doesn't go with DB at all, while I disagree. Sure, some scenes have unfitting music, but so does Kikuchi sometimes too.Fionordequester wrote:You know, Dbboxkiafan said something that I know he didn't mean, but it reminded me of one of my main pet peeves about some people who bag on Team Faulconer and the dub, and that's that I see a lot of people saying that Team Faulconer's "rock" style didn't fit the series, and the music was not orchestral, and therefore, the score was not suited for the series...

Don't get me wrong i love Kikuchi for DB and even early DBZ, but once Team Faulconer's music comes in I switch to that.
Plenty of scenes are made 10x better with the Faulconer score for me. at the same time, even as a dub fan I wouldn't want Faulconer's music on the original DB dub.
but yeah you have things like Earth Theme and New Earth Theme which I honestly can't think of what genre they'd be, definitely not rock or techno. But then you have the recap/closing among others which you listed which are rock. So yeah it's pretty hard to put it into one genre, like you said.

The word "dub" can also mean "to add (music, speech, etc.) to a film or tape recording", which is how most of Japan's animated shows are done (animate, THEN record the dialogue and dub it in), whereas in the United States at least, the voices are recorded first and then animated afterwards.dbboxkaifan wrote:The original version is the Japanese audio it's not a "dub", that's the term you'd use for an international dub not the original source.
