Is it possible that Funimation will get the rights and release the Boo saga of Dragon ball Kai this year? So far I'm really enjoying it! The music, and the opening & closing scenes are awesome in my opinion.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: Will Funimation release Boo saga of Kai this year?
There is a very good possibility. I have a feeling that we may start seeing releases toward the end of the year or beginning of next year. I'm pretty sure FUNimation already has the rights and in fact already has most, if not all, of it dubbed and ready. I have a feeling that they are just waiting on the "go ahead" from TOEI. There has been many a discussion about how FUNi's denial of knowing anything about Buu Kai is just TOEI duct taping their mouths shutsamuraix123 wrote:Hello Everyone!

I'd say at the end of this year or early next cause dosen't funi have to wait till the japanese release thire release first ?
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yeah I don't believe for a second that they don't know anything about this.
Dragon Ball is their cash cow.

I would think so. TOEI has probably told FUNi to keep it under wraps because they want to sell as many of their own releases as they can before the reverse importing starts.sintzu wrote:I'd say at the end of this year or early next cause dosen't funi have to wait till the japanese release thire release first ?
Re: Will Funimation release Boo saga of Kai this year?
Does this deserve a whole new thread? Also, your personal comments on Buu Kai have nothing to do with the topic.
Anyway, IIRC, MADMAN unofficially said that they would release the first set this fall, so there is a possibility that FUNi will release it around the same time or even earlier. However, considering that now it's been confirmed that Toei is going to release the first Blu-ray/DVD box on September 2, my guess is that FUNi's release will come out at the end of this year at earliest.

The mods can lock it if they want. how does my personal comment interfere with the question? are we not allowed to give our thoughts on something while asking a question anymore?kei17 wrote:Does this deserve a whole new thread? I've thought about it and Funimation will probably start to release it after they get done with their Season Blu-ray releases?

I don't want to sound harsh and be warned by the admins for mini-modding, but anyway, I think that you could just toss out your question on one of the existing Buu Kai threads or create a topic without personal comments on the show in general, which is basically nothing different than "hey, it's a nice day, isn't it?" or something like that. I would, though, understand if you related it to the question like "I'm really enjoying the show so far, so I want to know when they'll release it!"samuraix123 wrote:The mods can lock it if they want. how does my personal comment interfere with the question? are we not allowed to give our thoughts on something while asking a question anymore?
Back to the topic, I very much doubt that Toei will allow FUNi to release it earlier than themselves. It would definitely damage the sales of the Japanese release.

Re: Will Funimation release Boo saga of Kai this year?
Whether it gets the first part released this year or not the majority of the releases will be in 2015 with around 60 episodes if Funimation does their part releases that is 5 more. So if part one makes this year 4 more will be in 2015!!

Maybe Part 1 will be released this year but don't hold your breath.
Seems like somewhat of a waste to get this on Blu-ray but let's see if Toei surprises FUNimation with something better than 16x9 AR.

I understand you're excited but, I think with the FUNimation\US side of things we just have to be patient. This whole thing is a timed process that is only known by Toei and FUNimation.samuraix123 wrote:Hello Everyone!

But... to answer your question: February or March of 2015. I'm basing this after the Blu-ray season sets. They should be ending sometime by the end of the year. October-ish, November-ish? I would think FUNimation would give some kind of buffer in between those releases only because the DBZ Boo arc would have just been released on Blu-ray and now DBK would be jumping into the same arc.

Unfortunately, as dumb as it is, FUNimation have confirmed in the past that because they consider Kai and Z to be separate properties, they're planned completely independently with no care put to whether the other is in the market at that point or not.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:I understand you're excited but, I think with the FUNimation\US side of things we just have to be patient. Re: Will Funimation release Boo saga of Kai this year?
Although they'll both be hitting the Majin Boo arc before we know it I can see why FUNimation would treat Dragon Ball Kai and Dragon Ball Z as two different franchises, for one their audiences aren't exactly the same (Faulconer BGM + Original FUNi voices) and includes all of the footage (Z) whereas the newer one doesn't.
Dragon Ball Kai: Majin Boo arc is yet to be proven if it'll be popular or not in the western market.

It took them a year to put out the first iteration of Kai, so just based on past examples, no.
