Never saw the episodes in Japanese, but the Japanese voice of Dr. Gero has passed at the age of 81. RIP.

Rest in peace, doctor, rest in peace!

Well, there goes a chance for a new DBZ reboot series.

Rest in peace, Doctor Gero. :(
  • 1) Hirotaku Suzuoki - Tenshinhan, Tenkaichi/Otherworld Tournament Announcer and some DBGT characters.
  • 2) Kohei Miyauchi - Muten Roshi
  • 3) Daisuke Gori - Mr. Satan, Muten Roshi's, King Cold, Gyumao, King Yamma, Captain Yellow, Porunga, and more.
  • 4) Takeshi Aono - Piccolo Daimao, Kami and Ninja Murasaki.
  • 5) Isamu Tanonaka - Raiti (Fake Namekian) & Bibidi (Father of Babidi)
  • 6) Kenji Utsumi - Shen Long, Commander Red, Mutaito and Recoome.
  • 7) Kouji Yada - Dr. Gero, Dr. Kochin and Shen Long in New Dr. Slump.

So now we've lost about seven VAs of the original edition. :| Things are going to get really ugly when we lose the voice of the authentic Goku, that being, Ms. Masako Nozawa.

By the way, a while ago I watched Dragon Ball's Path to Power and hearing Muten Roshi without his real voice just bugged me so much, I almost stopped watching but I didn't.

I don't know how popular she is in Japan, but I would expect it to be major news all around the country that day, with it being announced all over the news in Japan on newspapers, TV, radio, etc... and probably massive hommage to Dragon Ball and the character of Son Goku on that sad day...

But she seems to be quite healthy, like she's just 60 or something (and with more energy than most 60 years-old), so hopefully, we don't have to worry about that for quite a long while!

Rest in Peace Kouji Yada-san.
The old school cast will never be forgotten.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Don't forget Nagai Ichiro, the voice of Karin and Tsuru'sennin. Also, while Suzuoki was the replacement voice for the Tenkaichi Budoukai announcer, it was Utsumi Kenji who originally played him during his most prominent roles in the series.

How come you have Muten Roshi listed twice? Unless you meant Kame (Turtle)?

Sad news, he was a damn good voice actor, absolutely loved his work as #20.

Also if Masako Nozawa dies like someone mentioned earlier, I really hope they don't try to get a replacement VA for Goku, it wouldn't be right.
thomas1up are fuckin terrible and need to fuck off asap all the other noobs are decent thouhg

Damn, another one gone. :( His voice was perfect for the character. Glad he was able to fully reprise his role in Kai. And 81 is nothing to sniff at. Big bucket of win, as they say on Hollywood Babble-On (my other favourite podcast).
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

Bit late on this one, but godspeed Mr. Yada. :( I knew him best for Gero, but now I'm definitely gonna have to go give his Zeff a listen.
