I know this is extremely trivial and minor but I'm just curious.
On almost all the English releases (minus the Dbox I think) Funimation had that metallic-looking text for all 291 episodes of Z.
Then on the Blu-rays I heard somewhere they were changed. Could someone clarify with a screenshot for me?
Thanks ahead of time.

Wow, that text looks really amateurish and out of place. It reminds me of Microsoft Word Art.

What was the need to change it?
Thankfully, I only use marathon mode so it doesn't bother me as much.

I have to agree that I prefer the original look, since it's consistent with Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT.

While it looks amateurish, I like it fine. It's a little like the Japanese titles. The font used for the original release looked like it was trying to be edgy and modern.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

I wish they had used the font for the TV versions of Kai's title cards. Does anyone know why the font is different for the broadcast and home video releases of Kai?

Didn't the old title cards have the Dragon Ball Z logo at the bottom too? Was that one of the casualties of the orange bricks?
Eh, anyway, while I don't care about the dub, I'm sick of them constantly reworking it. It happened. You made it. It's done. Stop changing history. And considering so many dub fans say they want what they saw on Toonami, I don't get why they don't get pissed off with stuff like this and updating lines and all that crap.

Holy crap, even Funi's old TITLE CARD FONT gives me overpowering waves of nostalgia. What the hell.

RE: ABED:
Exactly. Hate that crap.
But actually, I just noticed. They didn't just change the font. They used an entirely different card. Look at the Dragon Balls. Their positioning is totally different. How did they even do that? Did FUNimation make custom Dragon Balls?

I can still hear the Falcouner music when I see the image.

I kind of want to check out the Bluray sets for nostalgia one of these days.

Like I wrote, the font conveys the "edgy" and "hardcore" (for lack of better terms) that they were going for. The music went along with it.
I loved what they did with the Ocean dub title cards by adding things like rotating hourglasses for the episode "Time Tricks and Body Binds".

I think they changed the dragon balls too on the season sets from their single counterparts.
Did they add grain for the new title cards? Because they usually freeze frame (in the singles) so they can add their english titles
